TARGET OF COUNCIL — At last Monday's council meeting members decided to wage a campaign against some of the more unsightly areas of the village. This home, across from the ball park will be asked to remove the excess vehicles from the residential area. (Staff Plioto) Editorial Big government (Continued from Page 2) report's suggestions. The numer one objection as we see it is to the fact that little Huron County will be smothered in a five county health district with the larger, more urbanized counties, of Middlesex, Elgin and even Oxford and Perth. The populatipn of London alone is four times that of Huron which with 50,000 people Would be the smallest county in the 550,000 population district. With say ten members on the governrrient district health council what quality of representation could our county, let alone our towns and villages, hope for? We are for better health facilities for the people of our county. We can agree that centralizing some health services might help meet this end. But the health ..task force's recommendations are so new and in some cases revolutionary that they must be studied and talked about by all of us before any decisions are made. If the provincial government is really, as they say "committed to the principle of public involvement in the planning of health services" they will encourage public knowledge and discussion of just What is being planned and how it will be implemented. That requires much more than sending a report, written in the finest hard-to-read officialese to municipal officials with a request for comments within two months.
