Reeve Jack McCutcheon instigated the tour to make other councillors aware of several areas that were not being taken care of. They visited the trailer park first as it has top priority for completion. Councillars are hoping the trailer park will be completed in the near future. Still left to finish is gravel for the driveways and road, spreading of more top soil Morris gives grant to cemetery A by-law imposing special annual drainage rate under The Tile Drainage Act 1971 on one lot was passed at the Morris Township Council meeting on August13. A new By-law to restrict and regulate the destruction of trees by 'cutting, burning and other means was received from the County Clerk. A grant of $45 will given to Seaforth Community Hospital. Charles Johnston was present to request a grant for Bluevale Cemetery Board. Council voted to give them a grant of $100. An application for a tile drain loan of $1100 was accepted. Thos. Miller will look after repairs to McDonald, Kelly and McCutcheon Drains. General Accounts were shown as $5,191.56 and Road Accounts as $28,464.83. Total accounts are $33,656.39. in some areas, a bit of hydro work and additional stones to be picked up. Mr. McCutcheon said that he felt the trailer park was' causing many other jobs, such as grass cutting, to be ignored. These areas were pointed out to the men who are responsible. The other two items high on the priority list is the removal of the Waxman building remains and the installation of cement tiles on Albert St., south of the Stockyards. Along with the cleaning-up of municipal property, council is also considering action towards some residents, who they feel should clean up their own property .. A registered letter is being sent to Ted Kumm, who presently has over 20 vehicles on the lawn around his home, located' aedoss from the ball park, Council is requesting he remove the old cars, which he repairs, from the residential area. Council will also be 'notifying the owners of wrecked cars that have been, sitting on the streets for some time. They will be asked to remove them. The reeve also showed members of council a house that is for sale beside the fire hall. After returning to the meeting, council voted to enter a bid on the house.' Maitland Conservation Authority will be requested to consider repairing the dam. Council is concerned that the Brussels dam, if it does not receive some attention, will soon be in as bad a shape as those in Wingham and Gorrie. The OPP will be approached by the council to increase their attention on weekends in the village because of the large amount of vandalism and ,disturbances. Maitland Teleservices Ltd. was given approval to extend feeder cable towards Alexander St. and the proposed site of the senior citizens housing. Council was also asked by the Ministry of Housing to pass a resolution saying they will be responsible for 71/2 % of the annual operational losses on the senior citizens development. In a letter received from the' — CNR, the village was informed that the station would be''sold to council as long as it would be used by senior citizens in the area. Reeve McCutcheon raised the point that the agreement had , been made that the station could also be used by a social group if the senior citizens did not want it. CN will be notifed of 'the agreed terms. Youngsters are most often the victims. Parents should ,be alert and keep all potentially danger- ous items out of the reach of children, preferably under lock and key, including drugs, chemical cleaners, paint turpentine, etc. Children are naturally curious so it is up to parents to be aware of danger and keep hazardous products safely beyond the hands of the young ones.
