'Mtue, Seater& THE BRUSSELS POST, AUGUST 7, 167 *Aro v.i=e• News of Belgrave Family dinner honours Mrs. Herb Wheeler Correspondent Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse The family of Mrs. Herb Wheeler held a turkey dinner on Saturday, August 3, to honour her on the occasion of her 90th irthday, The United Church Women catered to the dinner hich was held at noon in the hutch basement. Her immediate family and some close friends Wended. An open house followed during the aftertioon and evening when many friends called to extend their best wishes. Those pouring tea in the afternoon were Mrs. Walter Kerr of Brussels, Mrs. George Howson of Wingham, Mrs. Mervin Stephens of Goderich, all iieces of Mrs, Wheeler and Miss Hilda Lane of London. In the evening four ladies of the U.C.W, of which Mrs. Wheeler has been a member for many years, poured tea. They were Mrs. Stewart Procter, Mrs. Earl Anderson, Mrs. Robert Coult es and Mrs. Willar Armstrong. Mrs. Wheeler received many lovely gifts, floral tributes and messages of congratulations. Noteworthy among the latter was one received from the Prime Minister of Canada, Pierre Elliott Trudeau and one from Murray Gaunt, M.P.P. for Huron-Bruce. Guests were present from London, Niagara Falls, Stratford, Goderich, Listowel, Wingham, Brussels, Blyth, Bluevale, -Vancouver a nd Belgrave. J.A.Meets The Belgrave Junior Auxiliary met in the Orange Hall on Saturday morning with Lisa Thompson leading in the games. Audrey Scott, the president, led in the opening exercises which included the Promise, Members' Prayer, Motto and Junior 'Auxiliary Hymn. Cathy Shiell took charge of the Roll Call. Minutes of the last meeting were read by, Sheila Anderson. She also helped with the worship service. The treasurer's report was given by Joan Higgins. Leaders for the next meeting, games, Anne Procter, sing song - Kelly Lougheed; to help with worship service - Lisa Thompson; clean-up girls - Cathy • Shiell and Julie Guay. The sing-song for this meeting was led by Sheila Anderson. The girls worked on stripe work. Letters to the Queen Here's how letters to the Queen were signed back in 1843: "1 remain, With the profoundest veneration, Madam, Your Majesty's most faithful subject, and dutiful servant." And that was written with a quill, pen! Personals Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hushinson of Collander spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. George Cook. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Bearss of Niagara spent Thursday with Mrs. Cooper Nethery and Miss Mary Isabel Nethery. Mrs. Norman Hill of Toronto spent one day last week with, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry McGuire„ Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mann and family, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Mann of Moncrief visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John Nixon. Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse were the Rev. Harold and Mrs. Boyd,Heather,David, Susan and Scott of Kenora, Mrs. Edward Doer, Terry and Patricia of Wingham, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Johnston, Mr. and Mrs. Don Craig, Debbie and Douglas of Blyth. Michael McNally of Toronto spent the weekend with Mrs. Laura Johnston. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Speiran, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Conklin of St. Louis, Missouri, Mr.Will Speiran of Listowel were Friday evening visitors with Mrs. Amelia Brown and Mr. and Mrs: Bert Johnston. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Snell of London spent a few days last week with her brother, Mr. Harold Keating. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Armes of Windsor spent a few days with Mrs, Cecil Coultes. Mr. and. Mrs. David Spencer of Toronto spent the holiday weekend with her mother, Mrs. Cecil Coultes, Mr. and Mrs. Don Hatheway, Christine and Jennifer of Windsor, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Armes and Diane of Seaforth visited on Sunday with Mrs. Cecil Coultes. Mrs. Winnie Vincent of Blyth was a weekend visitor with Mr. and Mrs. James Lamont and family. Miss Ruth Knox of London visited one day last week with Mr. and Mrs. John Nixon. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Procter and Frank took Marjory to Toronto International Airport where she boarded a plane for a few weeks vacation in England and Scotland.
