Family dinner honours Mrs. Herb Wheeler

The family of Mrs. Herb
Wheeler held a turkey dinner on
Saturday, August 3, to honour her
on the occasion of her 90th
irthday, The United Church
Women catered to the dinner
hich was held at noon in the
hutch basement. Her immediate
family and some close friends
Wended.
An open house followed during
the aftertioon and evening when
many friends called to extend
their best wishes. Those pouring
tea in the afternoon were Mrs.
Walter Kerr of Brussels, Mrs.
George Howson of Wingham,
Mrs. Mervin Stephens of
Goderich, all iieces of Mrs,
Wheeler and Miss Hilda Lane of
London.
In the evening four ladies of the
U.C.W, of which Mrs. Wheeler
has been a member for many
years, poured tea. They were
Mrs. Stewart Procter, Mrs. Earl
Anderson, Mrs. Robert Coult es
and Mrs. Willar Armstrong.
Mrs. Wheeler received many
lovely gifts, floral tributes and
messages of congratulations.
Noteworthy among the latter was
one received from the Prime
Minister of Canada, Pierre Elliott
Trudeau and one from Murray
Gaunt, M.P.P. for Huron-Bruce.
Guests were present from
London, Niagara Falls, Stratford,
Goderich, Listowel, Wingham,
Brussels, Blyth, Bluevale,
-Vancouver a nd Belgrave.

The Belgrave Junior Auxiliary
met in the Orange Hall on
Saturday morning with Lisa
Thompson leading in the games.
Audrey Scott, the president, led
in the opening exercises which
included the Promise, Members'
Prayer, Motto and Junior
'Auxiliary Hymn.
Cathy Shiell took charge of the
Roll Call. Minutes of the last
meeting were read by, Sheila
Anderson. She also helped with
the worship service.
The treasurer's report was
given by Joan Higgins. Leaders
for the next meeting, games,
Anne Procter, sing song - Kelly
Lougheed; to help with worship
service - Lisa Thompson; clean-up
girls - Cathy • Shiell and Julie
Guay.
The sing-song for this meeting
was led by Sheila Anderson.
The girls worked on stripe
work.

where she boarded a plane for a
few weeks vacation in England
and Scotland.

Taylor, on the weekend.

on Sunday. As the horse bucked his hat went flying,
