Correspondent • Mrs. Mac Engel The Educational and Cultural meeting of the Cranbrook Women's Institute was held in the Cranbrook Hall with Brussels, Ethel and Moncrieff members as guests. The meeting was opened with the singing of the "Opening Ode", followed by the Mary Stewart Collect and the Lord's Prayer being repeated in unison. The roll call was answered with a verse from public school by 18 members. Or- visitors included 7 from Moncrieff,11 from Brussels, 8 from 7ithel and 7 other guests. Mrs.Witfred Strickler reported on the visit to the Atwood Maple Leaf Institute meeting on May 16. There was no , report at this meeting on the District Annual in Gorrie. Mrs. Cudmore reported that the Cranbrook W.I. were asked to donate' cookies or squares to the Huronview Blossom Tea. Mrs. Jack Conley made a motion to buy squares for this. Mrs. Jack Cox reported that the bicycle rodeo at Grey Central School was to be held on Tuesday, . June 11. Mrs. Cox also told particulars of the bus trip on June, 18. Mrs. Allan invited a member' of our Institute to the Wroxeter meeting on June 18. There will be no meeting in July . Picnic It was decided that the executive was to make the arrangements for the picnic at , Family Paradise in August. Mrs. Clare Veitch, convener for • Education and Cultural Activities presided for the remainder of the meeting. Miss Kate McNabb gave the motto on the benefits of books and reading. Sharon Engel gave a piano solo, Rosanne Engel gave the highlights on her speech "Grooming Guide for Personal Cleanliness" from the "Cranbrook Looking Glass". Mrs. Melvin Becker led in a short sing-song. Mrs. W. Strickler introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Geo Wilson from the Public Relations Office for W.I. of Canada. Mrs.I Wilson gave an interesting commentary on the W.I. activitiesi in the Northwest Territories and the Yukon, which she complimented with movie slides., Mrs.C. Veitch thanked the guest' speaker and presented her with a gift. The meeting was closed by, singing "0 Canada". Lunch was' served by Mrs.Jolin Strickler, Mrs.Baker, Mrs. Leslie Knight! and Mrs. Van Donkersgoed. • W. M. s. meets Mrs. John A Perrie was hostess, for the June meeting of the W.M.S. of Knox. Church with 15 attending. Mrs. Lylle Gordon opened the meeting with a poem "The Little Things that Matter". "Blest be the tie that binds" Was sung with Mrs. Leslie Knight as pianist. Psalm 143 was read responsively and a message from General Secretary of Bible Society by Kenneth. MacMillan ..v read. r. Stuart. McNair read "The Unique Book" followed by prayer by Mrs. Stanley Fischer. Mrs, Gordon gave a reading "Please don't forget the potatoes". Mrs. Earl Dunn presided fer the business. Lunch was served by Mrs. Jack Knight, Mrs. Leslie Knight and the hostess. Personals The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be observed in Knox Church on June 23 at 9:45. Work on the new house being built for John Vanass, London, was started last week. It is located on' land purchased from Camerons, next to the former school, now the residence of Mr. and Mrs.E. Zeihr. Mr. and Mrs.Stanley Fischer, Mrs. Stuart McNair and Mac Engel attended the induction service for Rev. Edwin G; Nelson in Seaforth Presbyterian Church on Wednesday evening, June 12. Mrs: W. A. Williams, Brussels, was able to return to her home from Wingham Hospital, where she has been a patient for some time.' Visiting Mr. and mrs.Earl Dunn recently were Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Mrs. Wilfred Strickler, Mrs. Earl Dunn, Mrs. Stuart McNair and Mrs. Annie Gemmel attended the 90th birthday party for Mrs. Amelia Brown on Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Johnson, Belgrave. An enjoyable family get-together was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Steiss when approximately 40 members of the family were present in honour of the. 45th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Steiss. Included in the guests were the five sisters of Mr. Steiss, Mrs. Orma Wilson, Brussels, Mrs.Arthur Nicholls, Atwood, Mrs. Oscar Huehn , Conestoga, Mrs. Calvin Cameron and Miss Emylene Steiss, Cranbrook. These vehicles will be on display. There will be a short tour of the town of Clinton by the cars. Upon returning to Huronview the residents will be taken for short tours about the town.
