E. Wawanosh mill
ate is up this year
The mill rate for E. WaWanosh
generally increased this year,
with the exception of Auburn.
This was announced at the
June 4 meeting of E. Wawanosh
Council held in the Belgrave
Coinmunity Centre.
A grant of $15.00 was given to
the Huron Co. Road Supt's Assoc.
A grant of $75.00 was also given
to the Wingh am Salvation Army.
The Court of Revision re the
"Currie Drainage Works" was
opened. The members signed the
"Oath of Member of Drainage
Court of Revision". There were
no appeals and the by-law was
passed.
The Clerk will advertise for
tenders re the Currie Drailiage
Works.
Mr. Bitton, Consultant from
the Youth & Recreation Branch
met with Council for discussion
on the formation of a Recreation
Committee. It was decided that
the Clerk prepare necessary
by-law to present to Council.
Council issued a Building
Permit for Part Lot 41, Conc. 13.
Two Tile Drain applications
were accepted by Council.
.. By-Law No. 4, 1974, to regulate
and define what shall constitute a
lawful wire fence within the
bounds of the municipality of East
Wawanosh was passed.
The school levy due June
28 will be $34,330.00 paid to
Public School Supporters -
Business and Commercial at 87.7
mills and rates are set for Farm
and Residential at 80.0 mills.
There is an overall increase of 3
mills due mainly to road
expenditure of which the deck
floor on the 10th Line Bridge will
be replaced, capital expenditure
on Townshipshed, and a
proposed tractor.

Separate School Supporters
rates for Farm and Residential
are 86.055 mills, an increase of
approximately 9 mills, mainly due
to road expenditure plus an
increase in the separate school
rate.
The Police Village of
Manchester (Auburn) is set at
70.985 mills, a decrease of
approximately 5 mills as special
levy was removed this year.
Huron Co. Board of Education
also levy due July 1, will be paid
to Roman Catholic Separate
School Board $573.50.
Road accounts of $19,51.24 and
the General Accounts of
$41,432.86 were ordered paid.
By-Law No. 5, 1974, being a
by-law for the purpose of levying
and collecting rates for the year
1974 ws given the necessary
readings and finally passed.
Following are the mill rates
which will apply to the 1974 Tax
Roll.
OPP report investigations
Recent investigations carried
out by officers at Wingham
Detachment include:
Nineteen charges laid and nine
warnings issued under the
Highway Traffic Act.
Six investigations with six
persons charged under the Liquor .
Control Act.. '
Twenty-two other
investigations with four charges
laid.
On Saturday, June 15, 1974,
Hannah J. White of R.R.#4,
Brussels, was involved in a single
car accident on Huron
Road #16, west of Sideroad 15-16
when the car she was driving
went into the south ditch and
struck two posts. Injured as a
result of the accident was Clrence
E. White, a passenger in the
vehicle. Damages were estimated
at $1500.00. Charges are
pending. . •
Shirley Jean Pellett of
Wroxter, was involved in a single
car accident in Wroxeter on
Saturday, Arne 15, 1974. There
were no injuries, and damages
were estimated at $400.00.
Charges are pending.
On Sunday, June 16, 1974,
Barbara J. Empey was involved in
a single car accident on
Concession 4 - 5, east of East and
West Wananosh Road. No one
was injured, and damages to the
Empey vehicle were estimated at
$800.00.
