Liberal Association News of Walton. 4-H. wits entertain UCW The United Church Women of NITS Church Walton met for their general meeting on Wednesday evening June 5th in the church basement. The devotional period was led by Mrs, George McColl of the 8th and 16th Unit. Hymn 582 'All things bright and beautiful' was sung with Mrs. Martin Baan as pianist, The scripture lesson was read by Mrs. Ken McDonald. Hymn 589, 'This is my Father's world' was sung, followed by prayer. The 4-H girls and leaders. were guests and put on their skits and had their exhibits on display that they did at Achievement Day just recently. There ate 4 clubs. Walton I had an exhibit. 'Groom- Guide for Hands and Nails' ith their commentator, Anne \-'atson. Walton 11 was a skit, 'what makes a girl attractive • ith all girls taking part. Walton III was an exhibit, 'Which hair style suits you' with Peggy Dennis as commentator. Walton FUNERAL FREDERICK WILLIAM DUNK The community was shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Frederick William Dunk on Thursday afternoon, May 30, 1()74 at his home in the village. le was in his 73rd year. He was horn in England. son of •he late Frederick George Dunk mid Edith Blanch Ward and came Canada at the ilg(2 Of 2 years. Ile had lived in Chatham, ondon, Montreal. and Toronto hcfore retiring to Walton 5 years ago. Mr. Dunk was on the session of the Board of Dul'l's United Church of which he was an active member. He also was an int erested member of the Brussels Horticultural Society. , Surviving arc his wire Phyllis; one daughter, (Beverly) Mrs. 'rerrance Ford of Sheffield: three sons, Frederick Richard of Frank- orcl; David A. of Continue Phillip .1% Toronto; and thirteen grand hildren. He was predeceased by tour sisters. After resting at the Earle Funeral Home in Toronto ill Monday June 3, 1974, the service was held at 2 p.m, with Rev: D. Mrs, Campbell Wey conducted, the business, opening with prayer. The offering was received by Mrs. K McDonald and dedicated by Mrs. Wey. Minutes were read by the recording secretary, Mrs. Herb Traviss. The flowers for the month of June arc to be put in the church for Senday Services by the 8th and 16th Unit. McKillop Unit are responsible for flowers on the first Sunday in July and the month of August. The church will be closed when the ministerls 011 holidays in JelY. Thank- you notes were received from Mrs. Mervin Smith and Mrs. W..1, Looming. The treasurer's report was given. The Boundary and 17th Unit to wash up after communion on the . first Sunday in July. It was agreed to send a delegate to Alma College August 11-14, if someone was able to go. The Regional meeting was announced for October 8th in Egmondville United Church. The treasurer is to purchase a dehumidifier for the church basement. There will be no meeting in July with an executive meeting in August. Mrs. Wey closed the meeting with prayer. McCall Reunion The annual McCall Reunion was held on Sunday at the Seaforth Lion's Park., Over fifty people enjoyed the get-together with a smorgasbord and' a ball game.. It will be held the same place next year on the. second Sunday in June with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Stephenson in charge. of table arrangements. Relatives were present from Myth, Brussels, Carleton Place, Ethel. List owe', Londeshoro, Pusliech, Wingham, Monkton and the Walton area. Mission Band There-were 36 members of the Mission Band present for their Fun Day sunday morning. The opening exercises were held in the basement of the church. The mite boxes were collected. Games were played outside under the leadership Of Mrs• Merton .Hackwell, Mrs:. Ross Bennett, Mrs, Mac Sholdiee. and Mrs, Ray Reuther, They returned to. the chureh for their treat of ice cream and cookies. The nursery children also joined in_ with the Mission Band. on this occasion. Personals Mr. and Mrs. W..1, Looming. were guests on Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Watson, Bayfield, it being the occasion of Bill and Ethers 25th wedding anniversary on June 4th, Mr. and Mrs, Leonard Lund of Toronto visited Mr. and Mrs. George McCall on Saturday. The ladies are sisters. Several ladies from the Walton W,1. attended the Birth Institute .n Thursday night in the hall \\ heti° Mrs. Chas. fathers from Bluevalc was special guest and spoke en Resolutions. Mr. and Mrs. John McGillvary id' Dorchester were Sunday isitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Clark 'and son Jim. Those attending the annual Blossom Tea at Huronvicw last Wednesday were Mrs. Nelson Reid. Mrs. John Gordon. Mrs. Ernie Stevens and Mrs. Allan McCall, The Walton Institute contributed lunch for the tea. There was also a bake table and bazaar. Mrs. Maud Lecming spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Leming .and family. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Brady of Sudbury also visited at the same home on the weekend. Mrs. Mac Sholdice entertained• relatives of" Eleanor Keys, her • sister, at a shower a week ago Sunday, who was married at, the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Keys, Scaforth, last Saturday.. Plans have been made for the June meeting of the W.I. by. the Agriculture and Canadian Industries convenors, Mrs. E. Mitchell and Mrs. Harold Bolger. Members meet at the hall.
