Mrs'. Harvey Craig attended
the W.I. Area Conference last
week in Kitchener at the
University Humanity Building.
Mr.. and Mrs, David Brady,
Toronto, spent the past' week with
Mr. William Leeming and family
and visited. Mrs. Leeming who is
a patient in the Clinton Public
Hospital.
The conveners on Education
and Cultural Activities remind the
members of the sale of bulbs and
plants at their May meeting.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hinchley of
Owen Sound were Friday visitors
with Mrs. Walter Broadfoot.
Mrs. Lew Kirkby, London "and
Mrs. Gib Smith McKillop Twp,
visited last week with Mrs. Jean
Miller.
Mr, and Mrs. Rollie MI
attended the Boyle-Tut
wedding in Toronto on Satutd:
Margaret Turner returned hap
with them for a visit.

Mrs.. Allan McCall
Rev. Dennis Clark was guest
speaker at the U.C,W. meeting,
Wednesday evening May 1st held
in the basement of Duff's United
Church. There was a good
attendance present from all units.
Mrs. Graeme Craig was in
charge of the devotional period
'opening with the hymn "All the
way my Saviour leads me". Mrs.
Martin Baan was pianist. Mrs.
Fred Uhler read the scripture
from Psalm 67, followed by Mrs.
Craig reading a poem, "If God
should go on strike". Hymn, "In
Christ There is no East or West"
was sung.
Ireland
Mrs. F. Uhler introduced Rev.
Clark who preaches at the Atwood
and Ethel Presbyterian charges:
He spoke on. Ireland saying
historical problems go back 300
years and the Scots make much of
the trouble. (Northern Ireland is
more highly mechanized than any
other part , A very interesting
discussion followed, when Rev.
Clark told of his home town. His
parents still live in Northern
Ireland.
Mrs. Craig thanked Rev. Clark
for his most interesting
information of Ireland, and
presented him with a gift. Mrs.
Craig closed this part with prayer
with all joining in repeating "The
Lord's Prayer".
Business
Mrs. W. Bewley conducted the
business portion of the meeting,
opening with a t hought. The
minutes were approved as read
by Mrs. Herb Traviss. The bale
will he packed as soon as
possible. A dehumidifier is to be
pur !lased for the church
basement.
Mrs. Nelson Marks reported
for the supper committee which
has decided to lower the menu
prices. A bedroom is to be
redecorated at the manse.
The Walton Unit are in charge
In scanning the Mitchell Advocate we note
that a beautiful new picture of Her Majesty
Queen Elizabeth was presented to Mitchell
Council during a special meeting Thursday
night. The presentation was made by Mrs. M.
Fisher, on behalf of Jean Blewett Chapter IODE,
of which she is regent. This is Mitchell's
Centennial Year and Mayor Norman Walt hung
the new picture at the front of the Council
Chamber, replacing the previous picture of Her
Majesty.- - - A cheque for $3,000 was presented
to Ritz Lutheran Villa on Friday by Mrs. Gordon
Rose, a member of the board of directors of the
Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Ontario
District, Missouri Synod. - - - Mit chell
Agricultural Society has decided to make "The
Biggest Little Fair in Ontario" a four day event
this year. - - - Ron Scotchmer is the new
president of the Mitchell Lions Club.
According to the Teeswater News the local
Lions Club marked their 25th Charter Night
Anniversary on Tuesday at the Formosa
Community Hall. - - - The Teeswater Junior
Farmers, with 119 members, is the largest
Junior Farmer Club in Bruce County.
The Clinton News Record, has the following
report. According to a survey conducted by the
NeWs-Record during March and part of April,
the Clinton Town Hall should be renovated and
used for office space.
The Zurich Citizens News reports that
members of Lions Clubs from across Western
Ontario held their regional rally in Zurich last
Wednesday night, at which time two zone
chairmen and one deputy district governor were
elected. Zone chairman is Harvey Howard,
Clinton; Deputy Governor, Grant Chisholm,
Lucknow and Zone Chairman, Whitney Crawford
of Tiverton.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Thuell, according to the
Blyth Standard were honored on the occasion of
their 55th Wedding Anniversary recently.
The Goderich Signal-Star reports that Testral'
Fibers Ltd. of Elmira have obtained a $550,000
mortgage loan from the Ontario Development
Corporation to build a 24,000 square foot plant in
Goderich Industrial" Park, Jack Riddell, MPP for
Huron told the Signal-Star Tuesday. The
company will employ 39 persons its first year in
operation and up to 130 in the fut ure. The
Textral Fibers has frontage. on Highway 21,
immediately south of the new Signal-Star
btiilding, - - Former Signal..Stat reporter, Ron
Shaw and his Wife will be leaving soon for
Maradi, near the Nigerian-Niger border as they
join the Canadian Hunger Foundation on an
assignment in Africa: At present they re
undergoing training in Ottawa, Windows

was given by Mrs. Ken
McDonald.
Individual Groups
The units met in individual
groups for a short business
period. Minutes were read and
roll call taken followed by the
receiving of the offering. It, was
voted to have the meeting in
September with all units on the
second Wednesday of the month.
Grace was sung and lunch was
served by the lunch hostesses
from each unit, followed by a
social ,half hour.
The Lost and Found Group
The girls met again on Tuesday
night in the basement 'of the
church for •their first meeting of
1974.
The President, Jane Baker,
opened the meeting with the roll '
call. Only eight girls were present
so we decided to split up the
group, now making two Lost and
Found groups. One in Seaforth
and one in Walton.
The girls then decided to divide
the money by each group keeping
$20.00 and giving $100.00 to the
Cancer Society. Anyone willing to
help supervise the Walton group
with Mrs; Docken1 please
call her at 887-6540. The
meetings shall carry on as usual.
