Institute met in the Community Centre on February 19, for the Canadian Industries meeting with , Mrs. Stanley Black as convener. Mrs. Norman Coultes presided and opened the meeting in the Jsual manner. The roll call "Name an industry near you that might interest Tourists", was answered by nineteen members and there ,were also three visitors present. Mrs. Dan Hallahan presented the motto, "Yesterday is to learn from, today is to live in and Tomorrow is to plan for." She, gave an interesting account of the Belgrave Community Centre 3tarting in 1948 when plans were aegun to build an indoor arena. ;he reminisced about events that wiped finance the project, saying that 75% of the labor was voluntary. VERA FRAIN On February 12th at Wingham nd District Hospital, Mrs. Vera 'rain of Brussels passed away. he funeral service on February 4th at the Watt's Funeral Home 'as in charge of Rev. Noblitt, was read and the members were reminded of the A.C.W.W. Conference in Perth, Australia in October 1974 and information given on the Federated Women's Institute Competitions. During the business, it was agreed to purchase fifty chairs for the W.I. Hall and have the present chairs sanded and varnished. A 20-gallon hot water heater has been donated for use in the hall and the Institute will have it installed. ART JOSEPH VIENNEAU Art Joseph Vienneau of Bluevale died Feb. 12 in a car accident while in his 33rd year. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Reading; one son, Paul and his daughter Mary; his father, Camille Vienneau of Bluevale; his brothers Charlie of Gardener Mass. andJoseph of Wingham and his sister Live Leblanc of Fittsburg, Mass. He was predeceased by his mother in 1958, his brothers Al in 1960 and Reginald in 1971. Services were held at R.A.Cujrrie and Son Funeral Home in Wingharn. Int erment will be held in Wingham Cemetery. GORDON BARY GUY A former resident of the Brussels area, Gordon nary Guy of Bluevale was instantly killed when the pickup truck he was driving was in collision with a tractor-trailer. He was in his 30th year. A son of Mrs. Margaret Parish of Brussels and the late Jordan Guy, he was born on the 4th concession of Elma Township. He would have been 30 on March 8th, 1974. He is survived by his Wife, the former Diane Kitchen; two young sons, Jordan and ' Steven; his mother; four brothers, Ross and James of Western Canada; Ivan of Brampton., Charles of Ethel; five sisters,Mrs. Nelson, (Isabella) Gray, AtwOod; Mrs. Clement (Edna) McLellan of Brussels; Mrs. Neil (Gladys) Hatt, Palmerston; Mrs. Stan (Lenora( Prager, Newark Calif. and Mrs. Gus (Sharon), Lickings of London. The funeral service was held Friday, February 15th from the M.L.Wattg , Funeral Mind, Brussels with burial in the Brussels Cemetery. Committees were appointed for the birthday party for Huronview residents on April 17. Lodge Meets The regular meeting of 1226 R.B.P. was held in the Orange Hall, Blyth last Tuesday evening. The sixth or Royal Green degree was conferred on a candidate. Those taking part were Thomas Johnston, Alex W. Nethery, Athal Bruce, Emerson Mitchell, Robert Hibberd and Harvey Jacklin. Messengers Meet The Messengers of Belgrave United Church met on Sunday morning in the Sunday School room with 15 members present. Janice Coultes assisted the leaders Mrs. Murray Scott and Mrs. Ross. Higgins. Joan Higgins collected. the offering. The Mission Story of Bertenho of Brazil was read and discussed. The children made a "Children's Home Mural". Eight Tables Eight tables of euchre were played last Wednesday evening in the Belgrave Community rooms with prizes going to: High Lady-Lawrence Taylor (playing as a lady); Low Lady- William Gow (playing as a lady); Novelty Lady-Mrs. Ethel Whee- ler; High Man-Charles Brewer; Low Man-Danny Lamont; Novelty Man-Glen Nixon. Euchre and Dance • A euchre and dance is scheduled for March 22, music by the Blenders, and lunch will be donated and served. The 'Huron West District Annual will be held in Belgrave on Monday, May 27, tentative plans were made for the dinner and meeting. The Senior Homemaking e course "More Ideas About Sewing with Knits", will begin on Thursday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Institute Hall. Anyone in the community interested in this course is urged to attend. The leaders Mrs. William Coultes and Mrs. John Kerr wish each person attending to bring about LA yard of knit material and sewing machine. Further information may be had by contacting the leaders.
