Mrs. Joe Walker
The December meeting of the
Women's Missionary Society of .„
Knox Presbyterian. Church was
held at the home of Mrs. Gordon
Mundell, Wingham.
Mrs. Glenn Golley opened the
meeting with the call to worship'
and the carol, "While Shepherds
Watched", was sung. Mrs.
J.J.Elliott read scripture from the
12th chapter of St. Luke's Gospel
and comments and prayer were
given by Mrs. Keith Moffatt.
Minutes were read by the
secretary and adopted as 'read.
Roll call was answered by each
member giving an, interesting •
comment on the study of India
Mrs. Golley gave the slate of
officers for the coming year and
reports for 1973 from all
secretaries, were given. The
treasurer's report was given by
Mrs. Mundell and Miss Eileen
Haugh received the offering
which was dedicated by Mrs,
Golley.
Mrs. Bernard Thomas and
Mrs. Harry Elliott had charge of
the topic. They told of missions in
different parts of the world and'
,
how Christmas is celebrated in
different countries. They urged
that everyone be involved in
mission work in Canada and
throughout the world.
Mrs. Golley thanked Mrs.
Mundell for her home and the
meeting closed with prayer.
Christmas Concert
There was a capacity crowd
Friday evening at the Community
Hall for the Women's Institute
Christmas Concert. The hall was
tastefully decorated, complete
with lighted candies and tree.
Mrs., Mel Craig 'welcomed
everyone. Members of the
Institute
sang several Christmas songs to
open the cOnce..rt with 1VIts. Carl
Johnston as pianist.
The younger children who
Lame to the Institute Meetings
regularly gave recitations,. They

Nicholson and Michael PraSet,
Other Members delighting the,:
audience were, a solo by Barbara
Ryan; tap dancing by Karen

solo by Larry King; musical
numbers by David and Dewayne
Golley; tap dancing by Sherry
Ann and. Jacqueline Robertson.
There was a piano solo by
Elizabeth-Armstrong; reading by
Mrs.- Roy Sanderson and a skit,
"Nasty- Mother Goose",
presented by Mrs. Chas. Mathers
and Mrs. Harry Elliott.
A puppet show was given by
Mrs. Frank Workman. and Mrs.
Don Nolan.
A one-act play, "The Sand
Dune Hillbillys", was presented
by Institute members. parts were
taken by' Mrs. Ross Nicholson,
Mrs. Tim Tolton, Mrs. Jack
Nicholson, Mrs. Jim
Armstrong, Mrs. Wm. de Vos,
Mrs. Wendell Stamper,- Mrs.
Alex MacTavish, Mrs, William
Peacock, Mrs. Chas. Mathers,
Mrs. J.C.Johnston and Mrs.
Robert Fraser.
A candlelight service with Mrs.
Graham Campbell, Miss Emma
Johnston, Mrs. Harvey Timm,
Mrs. Robert Fraser, Mrs. Roy
Sanderson, Mrs. Carl Johnston
and Mrs. Robert Garniss
concluded the program. —
Mr. and Mrs. Santa presented
candies to the children.
Euchre Party
A progressive euchre party was
held Thursday, Dec.. 13 in
Bluevale CommunityEall, with
Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Greenaway
and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Elliott in
charge with 9 tables playing.
The high ladies' prize was won
by Harold Johnston, Low lady -
Mrs. Hugh_Mundell. High man's
prize went to. Charles Brewer..,
Low man was Lloyd Taylor. Lucky
draw went to Mrs. George
Fischer.
The next euchre will be on
December 27 with Mr. and Mrs.
Glenn Sellers and Mr. and Mrs.
Lloyd Warwick in charge.
Personals
Mr. Ivan Haugh was a supper
guest of Mr. and Mrs. Fraser
Haugh and. Eileen.
Rev. Ostrom of Wingham was
in charge of the service in the
Bluevale Presbyterian Church
Sunday. The choir sang "Silent
Night" as an anthem.'
Mr. and Mrs. Carter and family
were left homeless on Sunday
when their home was burned:
They were away at the time and
lost \ all of their belongings.
Anyone who would donate
clothing or money ,may leave
donations at Mather's. General.
