Mrs. Allan McCall
Sunday, December 16th the
Sacrament of Info,t Baptism was
held at Duff's United Church,
Walton. The children baptized
were: Brian William Love, infant
son of Mr. and Mrs. George Lave
*Jr.; Christopher John
Humphries, infant son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Humphries of
London; Jeffrey Shane Smith,
infant son of Mr. and Mrs, Gerald
Smith and Derwyn Mark Docken,
infant son of Rev. Derwyn and
Mrs. Docken.
The Junior Choir sang, two
numbers during the morning
service. Several Christmas, carols
were sung by the congregation
assisted at the organ by Mrs, Ian
Wilbee.
Rev. Docket"' chose as his
sermon "Blessed are they who
come in the Name of the Lord".
The third candle was lit, which
stood for Joy, and Rev. Docken
told the story of King Messiah to
the children.
The Sunday School concert was
announced for this Friday
evening at eight o'clock in the
church basement.
The U.C.W. executive will
meet on. Thursday afternoon to
Man programs for coming year.
Walton Unit has
Christmas Meeting
The Walton Unit met on
Monday, December 10th in the
church basement when Mrs.
Torrence Dundas, leader of the
losing side of the copper contest,
was mistress of ceremonies for
the evening.
The Sunday School room was
decorated in the Christmas theme
and each small table was set with
the Christmas serviettes and the
poinsettia centre pieces.
Mrs. Dundas welcomed
members and guests and
approximately 44 sat down to a
smorgasbord meal. The winning
, side brought the dessert.
Following the meal Mrs.
Dundas conducted the devotional
period, opening with a Christmas
poem and, the Thought for the
Month. The Christmas carol,
"Silent Night" was sung,
followed by Mrs. Bill Thamer
reading the scripture from second
chapter of Luke, verses 1 -20.
Mrs. Gerald Watson gave the
Meditation on Hope followed by
Mrs. Allan McCall leading in
prayer. Carol "Hark the Herold
Angels Sing" was sung. Mrs. •
Jack Brennen gave a reading,
"Gifts for Christmas", followed
by another carol, "Away in a
Manger". The "Christmas
Story" was read by Mrs. Bill
Humphries. "While Shepherds
Watched their Flocks" was sung.
Mrs. Ray Huether accompanied
at the piano for the singing of
carols: Mrs. Herb Traviss gave a
reading, "Christmas Recipe".
MI'S. Bill Coutts, leader of the
winning side extended thanks for
the evening planned by the losing
side. Mrs. Nelson Reid reminded the
members to take their lunch and
meeting tickets for the following
year program from the secretary,
Mrs. Howard Hackwell:.

Jingle Bells was sling and
Santa Claus Arrived with much
Merriment and gave out gifts' to
everyone. Christmas boxes given
out fOr shut-ins.
Mrs. George Love Sr, was in I
charge of devotions opening the
meeting with a Christmas Carol.
Mrs. Laverne Gedkin read the
scripture from Luke 2: 1-20
followed by Mrs. Charles.
McCutcheon giving a reading,
"God's Greatest Gift The
Saviour" and a poem "The
Innkeeper". Christmas carols,
"Away In a. Manger" and "Hark,
the Herald Angels Sing" was
sung. The collection.was received
by the treasurer, Mrs. Merton
Hackwell.
Mrs. Glen McNichol gave the
topic, an interesting story 'about,
Helen Bally who was a Baptist
missionary in- wartime. Mrs. G.
Love closed this part of the
meeting with prayer.
Mrs. John Burch,president,
presided for the business,
thanking Mrs. McCall for her.
hospitality, also 'all' those who
took part in the devotions, and
welcomed the visitors. Minutes
were given by Mrs. Glen
McNichol. The roll _call was
answered by a gift for the
Children's Aid. Society. It was
decided to send a $10.00 donation
to the London Rescue Mission.
Christmas boxes are to be sent to
the shut-ins.
Mrs. Murray Dennis gave the
nominating report for the officers
for 1974 as 'follows: Unit Leader

Treasurer — Mrs. Merton
Hackwell; Friendship and
Visiting — Mrs. Charles McCut-

Mrs. Merton Hackwell;,
Representative to Supply and
Welfare — Mrs. Dave. Watson;
Mrs. Jim Williamson chose as
her topic the most unforgettable
story of "The Night before
Christmas," "Silent Night" carol
closed the devotional- period.
Mrs. Martin. Baan presided for
the business. The secretary's
report was read by Mrs, Harold
McCallum. Mrs. Harvey Craig
reported as the treasurer.
Announcements were given out
for coming events. It was decided
to make up a box for a shut-in
member.
The January meeting is to be
held at the home of Mrs. Harvey
Craig. The collection was
received and the meeting closed
with the Benediction.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Harvey Craig, "Mrs. Jim
Williamson and the hostesses.
The Lost and Found Group
The eleventh meeting, of the
Lost-and Found girls group was
held on Tuesday evening in the
church basement. The members
,from Seaforth were absent
because of fog so Ruth Thamer
acted as President andlrene
Martin took the secretary's place.
Ten members answered the roll ,
call and discussed singing carols
and a skating party.
Entertainment was provided by
Irene Martin', Carolyn McClure
and Ruth Thamer.
The girls gathered in the same
place for their twelfth meeting the
following Tuesday evening and
did crafts of batik and needle
craft.
The thirteenth meeting the
girls met on the usual night the
next week. There were fourteen
members answered the roll call
and discussed more about singing,
carols.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Docken,
London and Mrs. James W. Daley
of Blenheim visited on Sunday at
the manse with Rev. Derwyn and
Mrs. Docken and family on
Sunday. They attended the
Baptismal Service at Duff's
United Church, when their
grandson Derwyn Mark Docken
was baptized. Mrs. Daley has
returned home after spending the
past week at the manse.

weekend with her grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Torrence Dundas,
she returned home to Waterloo
