WI entertain husbands and friends at Christmas party

The Christmas meeting of the
Belgrave Women's Institute took
the form of a banquet in the
Fellowship Hall at St. Andrews
Presbyterian Church, Wingham,
December 11th,
Guests of the members
included husbands and friends.
The president, Mrs. Norman
Coultes opened the meeting with
the singing of the Institute Grace,
a toast to the Queen, followed by
God Save the Queen.
Mrs. Clarence Hanna thanked
the Ladies Auxiliary for the
delicious turkey dinner.
Mrs. Couhes welcomed the
members, husbands and, friends.
Mrs. Herson Irwin reported she
had sent a Christmas gift to our
War Veteran at 'Westminister
Hospital, London.
Plans were made for a euchre
and dance to be held at the
;e1grave W.I.Hall on December
'8. C.R.Coultes volunteered to
ook after the euchre. Each
.eember is asked to bring
andwiches and the following
ommittee, Mrs. George Michie,
sirs. Earl Anderson, Mrs.
eonard James, and Mrs. Ivan

A donation was voted to be sent
o the Children's Aid Society.
The roll call was answered by
introducing your husband or
Mend. Twenty-eight members
and twenty-nine visitors
responded.
The variety program consisted
of readings by Mrs. Garner
Nicholson. Selections of
Christmas music by the ladies
quartette, Mrs. William Coultes,
Mrs. Glenn Coultes, Mrs. George
Procter and Mrs. Stan Hopper
and a poem read by Mrs. Ross
Higgins.
Carol singing was enjoyed led
by Mrs. William Coeltes with
Mrs. • George Procter
accompanist.
Coloured slides on India were
shown by Charlie Procter of
Morris Township.
On behalf ofthe Institute, Mrs.
George Michie thanked Charlie
For showing the pictures.
Clarence Hanna thanked the

Unit Names Officers
The Christmas meeting of the
Afternoon Unit of the U.C.W. was
held in the Sunday School room
on Tuesday. Mrs, Harold Procter
was in charge.
The treasurer's report was

'Ars. Herson Irwin reported 203
hospital and 134 home visits to

Mrs. George Walker read the
Christmas Story from Luke then

Night Holy Night" was sung and
Mrs. Procter gave the meditation,
"The Gift of Christmas". 'The

by Mrs. Bolt - Unto the least of

told of the • beauty of an old
rashioned Yuletide then the group
sang "It Came Upon the
Midnight' Clear".
Mrs. Lawrence Taylor's subject
was "Christmas Shopping" and
Mrs. Robert Coultes read • of
Christmas for Cecilia Jeffrey
residents in Winnipeg. Hymn
"While Shepherds Watched
Their Flocks by Night" and
prayer closed the meeting.

The 13elgrave A.C.W. met at'
the home of Mrs. Herman
Nethery with ten members
present.
Mrs. Mary Isabel Nethery
opened the meeting. Minutes and
correspondence were read by
secretary, Mrs. Clare Van 'Camp
and the treasurer's report. by
Mrs. Edna Nethery.
Mans were made for the
Christmas, party to:. be held on.
December 22 in the arena. The
church calendars were sold and
dues paid. The draw was won by
'Miss Mary Isabel Nethery.
On motion of Miss Nora Van
Camp all officers will retain their
positions for another year.
Rev. Fred Carson read from
Isaiah where the birth of Christ is
foretold and from St. Luke where
the birth is recorded. He led in a
Christmas prayer and the Lord's
Prayer was repeated in unison.
The hostess served lunch.
