The president William Ottltes conducted the meeting, inutes and reports wefe read by rs. John Gnay. The 1974 fair ill be held on Wednesday, ,ep ember llth. Mrs. Leslie Bolt conducted the lection of officers and directors or 1974. Past President-Peter de Groot; 'resident-William Coultes; 1st ice-President-Ross Procter; 2nd ice-President-Howard Walker; secretary-Treasurer-Mrs. Lorne arn pbell. The 1973 directors were all e-e ected except for the /9th East a anosh where Murray Vin- ent, and Mrs. Roy Robinson will place Wilfred Walker and Mrs. ohn Carmichael. The U.C.0, Belgrave Branch held their annual meeting on Friday evening with ISO served at a smorgasbord dinner, The Shindigs of East Wawa- nosh Public School entertained after the supper. The business report indicated the year was the best Belgrave has ever had with sales of $840,000. The new council was elected consisting of Murray Vincent, Fred. Meier; John Gaunt, Stan Hopper, Ronald Coultes, and Maurice Hallahan. After the business meeting, Scott's orchestra supplied the music for the 'dancing. • CHRISTMAS MEETING The Christmas meeting of the W.M.S. was held at.the home of Mrs. Alan McBurney on Dec- ember 4. The president Mrs. Joe Dunbar opened the meeting, Mrs. Joe Dunbar and Mrs. John C. McBurney reed part of the worship service from the Glad tidings, Mrs. Mac Scott the scripture from Luke 2, 1-20 and Mrs. Victor Youngblut the scrip- - ture on "Love." Prayer was read by Mrs. Walter Shortreed. Seeretary Mrs. John C, McBurney read minutes, Mrs. Joe Dunbar and Mrs. John C, McBurney were nomin- ated to make up the programs for 1974 and. Mrs. Mac Scott volunteered to type them. Mrs. Athol Bruce and Mrs. Stuart Cloakey were appointed to audit the books. Mrs. Mac Scott read a list of those to whom cards were sent in 1973. Roll Call was answered by a Christmas verse by ten ladies and 1 visitor. Thirty-seven visits to sick and shut-ins were recorded. Carol, "While Shepherds Wat- ched Their Flocks by Night," was sung. Mrs. Alan McBurney served lunch. EVENING UNIT MEETS The Evening Unit met at the home of Mrs. Bert Johnston with 16 members present. Mrs. Cliff Logan opened the worship service with a poem "Christmas." Mrs. George Mich- ie read the scripture from Luke 2, 1-20, followed by prayer by Mrs. Cliff Logan. Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler read a poem "In' the Carpenter Shop." A story of the Carpenter Shop was read by Mrs. Logan. Mrs. Laura Johnston read a poem. A candle lighting service "Peace at Christmas-" was conducted by • Mrs. William Coultes assisted by Mrs. James. Coultes, Mrs. Jack Higgins, and Mrs. Ross Higgins. The Coultes Sisters sang "Let There Be Peace," Mrs. Laura Johnston conducted the business. It was decided to carry on the Birthday parties for another year. The following officers Were elected for 1974: Leader-Mrs. Laura Johnston; Assistant Leader-Mrs. Murray Lougheed; Secretary:Mrs. George Johnston; Assistant Sec- retary-Mrs. Bert Johnston; Trea- surer-Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler; Program Convener-Mrs. William Coultes; Social Convener-Mrs. James Coultes; Community Friendship-Mrs.. Lewis Stone- house; Group Leaders-Mrs. Ross Higgins; Mrs. Murray Lougheed; Miss Annie Cook; Pianist;Mrs. George Johnston. The meeting closed with hymn "Joy to the World." Lunch was served by Mrs. Ross. Anderson's group. WIN AT EUCHRE Nine, tables of euchre were played at the Belgrave Euchre on Wednesday night in the Com- munity rooms. Winners were: High Lady-Mrs. George. Wal- ker; Low Lady-Mrs. Mae Deyell; Lady Novelty-Mrs. James Mc- Taggart; High Man - Glen Nixon; Low Man - James McTaggart; Novelty Man - George Brewer.
