Resolution generates discussion A resolution put forward by the Huron county delegation caused a good deal of discussion but finally Federation of Agriculture held at the HolidayInn, Oshawa • on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 26 - 28. The ,resolution, sponsored by Phil Durand of Zurich dealt with the tariff of eight cents on the import of corn from the United. States and the government's contemplation of its removal. The resolution said that U.S. growers are being subsidized by their own government and removal of the tariff Would give them an unfair advantage in the Canadian marketplace, It urged that the tariff not only be retained, but increased to 25©. The resolution immediately ran into flack from livestock producers who felt it would increase their 'costs at a time when all input costs are soaring. It was pointed out, however, that if the price wasn't.right the corn grower would feed his crop to livestock, thus producing an oversupply of liv(istock and hutting the livestock producer. The resolution...passed with a surprising majority considering the fact that the majority of farmers present were livestock producers. One delegate felt this was a good omen in that one producer recogniies the right of another to a fair price even if it hurts himself a little. Another resolution, this one from Peel county, caused a stir before it- was overwhelmingly approved. It called on governments to put an immediate moratorium on sales of land in Ontario to perSons other than Canadians or landed irninigrants. The resolution noted that many of the persons engaged in 'speculation in the province are non-CanadianS who are driving .priceS tip and taking their profits Peo W pley We knave Mrs. Tom.
