101 year old
resident dies
Miss Isabella McCture died on
Monday at Kilbarchan Nursing
Home. She was 101 and the
oldest Seaforth resident. She was
the last surviving member of a
prominent McKillop pioneer
family of 11.
She was one of six daughters
and five sons of George McClure
and his wife, Sarah Torrance
McClure.
She was born Sept. 2, 1872, on
the family farm which now is
occupied by a ne 'phew, Nelson
McClure.
Her father bought his McKillop
Township farm from the Canada
Company, cleared the land, and
raised his family.
Miss McClure moved to Sea-
forth in, 1912 where she nursed
her invalid sister„ the late
Rebecca McClure, for 25 years.
Retired since 1926 she was a
dressmaker by trade and since
1965, had been a resident of the
Kilbarchan Nursing Home. She
was a member of First Presby-
terian Church.
Surviving • are nieces and
nephews.
The body was at the R.S. Box
Funeral Home in Seaforth where
funeral services were held
Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. T.
E. Hancock, of Egmondville
United Church, officiating. Burial
was in Maitlandbank Cemetery.

McClure and Harry Brown.

In scanning the Goderich Signal-Star
we note that the Goderich Business-
men's Association steering committee met
to oversee the initial steps of a downtown
refurbishing project. Tenders were
accepted for the first stage of planning.
The committee is composed of six men. - -
It was disappointing Wednesday evening
to the recently formed Goderich IP
payers' Association when only 15 perso,
attended the meeting. - - - The Goderici
Industrial Corporation is this week kicking
off a drive to raise money for its activities•
through the sale of more shares to the
public. in particular the. funds would go
toward the proposed construction of a
building at the local Industrial Park so that
any industry interested in locating at
Goderich, but needing facilties, could be
accommodated, - - The Bayfield Senior
Citizen's Club learned Tuesday 'that they
have received a $6,725 New Horizons grant

The Kinsmen, according' to the
Lucknow Sentinel, have offered assistance
to the business men in staging, a Santa
Claus Day; the business men again will
sponsor free skating for the four Saturdays

progress has been made on the new

Ritchie, from the sponsoring VVingham
Kinsmen Club, will be the Charter
Chairman , as the new Kinsmen Club of
Lucknow receives its charter. George
Irving of Galt, National. President of the
Association of Kinsmen Clubs, will present
the Charter to the Lucknow and District
Kinsmen Club on Friday, November 30th.
The Charter President is Anthony (Tony)
Johnstone of Lucknow.
A profit of more than $1,300 was
realized from the 1973 Thresher Reunion.
Fred Mote of Bayfield was appointed the
president of the Huron Pioneer Thresher
and Hobby Association- for 1974 replacing
Don Snell of •Waterloo. Simon Hallohan
remains as secretary-treasurer while
George Bailie becomes vice-chairman. This
report was in the Myth Standard.
The Wingham Advance-Times reports
that there was a large attendance at the
Howick Lions Club 30th Anniversary. The
Howick Club is the only rural Lions Club in
Canada. Two charter members, Gordon
and Ken Edgar took part in cutting the
Anniversary cake. Guest speaker for the
occasion was Walter Fisher, a past
international president of Lions. - - - Rev.
M. S. Kaminski, parish priest at Sacred
Heart Church, Wingham, was honored'
recently by the parishioners on his
departure to Our Lady of Victory parish in
Chatham.

Pipes celebrate
35th anniversary
On Saturday evening friends
and relatives gathered at the
home of Mervyn and Frieda Pipe
to help them celebrate their 35th
wedding anniversary
Progressive euchre was
enjoyed by all after which a
delicious lunch ; complete with an
anniversary horseshoe -shaped
cake, was served.
After WWII their grandchildren
presented the gifts.
