Correspondent Mrs.l.Stonehouse The Belgrave Branch YVoinens Institute was--h.t6iford-to, have as their guesrfor their November meeting the President of London Area Institutes, -Mrs. Wesley Bradnock of Auburn, and Mrs. Donald Haines,, also of Auburn, who is President of Huron West District. Mrs. Bradnock Ove the highlights of the 601 Annual Convention of the F.W.I.C. held in Banff, Alberta, lit June to which she was a delegate. She also showed pictures •she had taken on her trip. Mrs. Haines. brought greetings from the distiict and assisted with the slides. Community singing was enjoyed led by Mrs. William Coultes with accompaniment on the accordion by Mrs. George Procter. Mrs.' Dan Hallahan, convener of , the Education Meeting, chaired the program. The roll call "Name an objective of the W.I." -was tinswered by twenty-one members. There were also four visitors. Mrs. Norman Coultes gave a detail&d report on the London. Area Conference held in London November 7 and 8. She thanked the-licstitute for sponsoring her as a delegate., The opening exercises and business session was conducted by the President, Mrs. Norman Coultes. The minutes and financial statement were read by the Secretary-Treasurer, Mrs. Ross Higgins. Requests for donations were acknowledged and are to be sent to the Maryn Pardy Memorial Fund, the Belgrave Hi-C and Huronview for Christmas •gifts. It was decided to have the piano in the Women's Institute Hall repaired and tuned. The following volunteered to convene the Smorgasbord dinner for the Belgrave U.C.O. on December 7th - Mrs. Clarence Hanna, Mrs. Herson Irwin; and Mrs. Leslie Bolt. The Christmas meeting will take the form of a dinner on December 11th at 7 P.M. at St. Andrew's Presbyterian. Church in Wingham, followed by a variety program. Any member wishing tickets contact Mrs. George Procter or Mrs, Norman Coultes before December 4th. A progressive euchre and dance will be held in W.I.Hall on December 28 sponsored by the institute. Baptismal Service A large attendance of relatives were present in Knox United Church Sunday 'morning when Rev. John G. Roberts baptized Christopher Floyd, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Campbell, Dean Murray, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Vincent, Darrell James Herbert, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Pletch. Great grandparents present were Mr. Ira Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Vincent, Mr. and Mrs. George Walter, Farewell Party 160 neighbours, friends and relatives gathered at the Belgrave Institute Hall On Saturday evening, November 24th to honour Mr. and Mrs. Harvey McDowell at a farewell party, Mr. William Flush of 'Toronto Was M.C. fot the evening. Kith MeDdiVell gave a recitation of welcome. Other numbers included:. Two mnsical numbers by the Shindigs; duets by 6461 and John McDowell1) Twoseottish numbers byJaintS Laurie accompanied by Mrs. Grace Brown at the piano of Blyth; a recitation by Clifford Coultes; several mouth organ selections byLloyd Walden, Arnold Cook and James Laurie accompanied by Mrs. Grace Brown at the piano, Garnet Farrier of Whitechurch gave two selections on the saxaphone with Dan Courtney. on 'the drums accompanied by Mr s. Farrier at the piano. Carol and John McDowell and Garth Walden gaVe two . humorous musical numbers. Two solos lily Miss Heather McDowell of Cookstown accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Elaine McDowell. Mrs. William Bush sang two solos accompanied at the piano by her husband, William Bush. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey McDowell were called to the front and Clifford Coultes read a few verses which he composed of humorous happenings in the life of the McDowell's. Mrs. Charlie Smith gave the address and Harvey and Ferne were presented with a large aerial picture of their former home in East Wawanosh by Arnold Cook, also a purse of money by Gerald McDowell. Both Harvey and Ferne replied fittingly thanking all for .the really enjoyable evening, for the losvely gift and also giving thanks for the fact they are so rich in friends. Mr. and Mrs. Garnet. Farrie and Mr. Don Courtney played for an hour of dancing. Hold Social Evening About 80 neighbours and old friends of Currie's Euchre Club held a social evening on Saturday at the Belgrave Arena Rooms for Mr. and Mrs. Alex Robertson and family who have moved from their farm in East Wawanosh to Wingham. The evening was spent playing progressive euchre with Mrs, Ronald Coultes as high lady, Robert Arbuckle, high Marilyn Robertson, low , lady. Murray Shiell , low man. After lunch Mr. and Mrs. Robertson were called to the front and Murray Shiell read the address. Jack Shiell and John Jamieson presented them with gifts, an oil painting with overhead light and a mother of pearl table lamp, Both Alex and Jean thanked everyone for the gifts and invited them all to come and see them. PERSONALS Last Thursday Mrs. Randy White and Cari Lynn of Kitchener visited with her mother, Mrs. Lorne Jamieson. Cari . Lynn remained for the rest of the week. On SUnday she returned, home with, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jamieson where they visited with Mr. and Mrs, Randy White and Mr, and Mrs. David Hanna of Kitchener. Miss Gail Mayberry spent the week end at the home of Mr, • andMrs. Clarence Hanna. Mr. and Mrs, Wilfred Walker moved recedntly to the farm of Alex Robertson which they recently purthased. Sympathy of the community is extended to Mr, and Mrs. Murray Lougheed in the passing of her Mother, Mrs. Newton, Mrs. Hazel Procter is a patient hi the University Hospital, London. Mt. and Mrs, Cecil Walpole of Point Clarke visited on Friday with Mr. and .Mrs. Harry McGuire before leaving for Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stoner house visited on Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. George Gibson and Mrs, Lillie Weir of Wrenteter,, Mrs. Cliff Logan returned home on Saturday after spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. America Arruda and family of Toronto, Mrs.Esther Halliday of London spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Higgins. The Anglican Church Women held a very successful bazaar, tea and bake sale on Saturday in the Women's Institute Hall. Mrs. Ed. Ansley of Thessalon is spending some time with her father Mrs. Ira Campbell. Mr. and Mrs. James Hodings of Granton visited on Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. Keith 'Pletch. Mr. and Mrs. Walt er Blackstaffe of Ottawa spent the weekend with their grandmother, Mrs, Elizabeth Leslie.
