A group of neighbors and .'friends of Glenn Huether had a busy day on Saturday when they covered his new house with siding. Glenn is at present a patient in Listowel Hospital following a heart attack on 'November 6. The annual meeting of the Afternoon Group of the W.M.S. was held at the home of Mrs. Clare Veitch with eight members in attendance. Mrs. Mac Engel opened the meeting with a reading, "This. Church says "Welcome" and a poem by Jon Gilbert "In the quietness of , prayer" The hymn "Jesus, wher'e'er Thy people ,meet" was sung with Mrs. Veitch at the piano. The Scripture reading Matt. 5: 1-20 was read in unison with a brief meditation by the leader. A reading and prayer of "Remembrance" was given. Mrs. Earl Dunn and Mrs. Stanley Fischer reported on the Fall. Conference held at. Listowel. Mrs. Dunn presided. for the business when minutes and reports were, read. The roll call was a verse on , "peace". Mrs. Wilfred. Strickler gave the topic based on Matthew 5: verses 14, 15,. 16 and spoke of "Community Spirit" and "The Light of the World". Mrs. Calvin Cameron gave a reading, "For Daily Living" and Mrs. Engel read "Do your job". "The King of Love my Shepherd is" was sung and the meeting closed with prayer. The Evening Group of the W.M.S. also had their annual, meeting the same day at the Veitch home. A poem "Remember". was read by Mrs. Gordon Engel, followed by a hymn and scripture reading. Mrs. Leslie Knight gave a meditation "Self Discipline" and _Mrs.Melvin Becker . gave a reading. Mrs. Jack Knight led in prayer. The roll call was "Remembrance". The evening and afternoon groups now met together and' voted• to form one group and elect a new slate of officers. Mrs. Gordon Engel was appointed chairman and Mrs. Earl Dunn secretary. It was agreed- to hold the meetings. from November to March in the afternoon at 2 o'clock and an evening meeting at 8:15 for the remaining months. Envelopes will be used for the monthly W.M.S. contributions. There will be an expense fund and the birthday . money will go to Friendship and Service. Pr ograms will be planned month by month with two members respon- sible for each ,meeting, one for devotions and one for topic. The following are the officers elected. President - Mrs. Earl Dunn;vice Pres. - Mrs. Gordon Engel; Secretary - Mrs. Leslie Knight; Treasurer - Mrs. Jack Knight; Friendship and. Service - Mrs. John A. Perrie; Glad Tidings Secretary - Mrs. Calvin'Cameron; Literature and Library - Mrs. Lylle Gordon; Press Reporter, - Mrs. Mac Engel. Auditors. - Mrs. St anley Fischer, Mrs. Stewart Steiss; Pianist - Mrs. Steiss; Assist ant - Mrs. Veitch. Mrs. Fischer conducted the service of Installation reading from Ephesians 3: 14-21,. the W.M.S. motto and a prayer. All repeated the Lord's Prayer and closed with singing "Forth in Thy name, 0 Lord,. I go" .and the Benediction. Lunch was served by Mrs. Cameron, Mrs. G. Engel and the hostess. Mr. and. Mrs. Earl Dunn attended a family get-together in the Orange Hall, Listowel, when around forty members of the Machan family were presesnt.
