Units Hold Monthly Meetings •
The theme "Courage" was
stressed throtighout the meeting
of the Walton Unit on Tuesday
even ing, November 13th at th
manse,"
Mrs. Ron Bennett opened with
the thought for the month. Hymn,
"God of our Fathers" was sung
accompanied by Mrs. Hert
raviss at the piano, followed by
Mrs. Bennett leading, in prayer.
Mrs. Allan McCall read the
scripture from Psalm 46 followed
by the meditation on Courage. Mr ,
s. Bennett read a remembrance
day poem, "Where Poppies
Grow". "0 God, our help in Ages
past" was -,sung. Mrs. 'McCall
gave a poem "Friendship Pie"
and Mrs. Bennett closed the
devotions with the Benediction.
Mr s. Mac Sholdice chose as
her topic, "The Christian Church
in India". According to tradition,
the. Christian religion first
reached India sometime during
the first five centuries with the
establishment of the St. Thomas
community in South India.
Throughout the years work has
been helping to meet their
extreme needs. Some Canadian
missionaries work 'with Indian
people and we can share with
India by list ening and trying to
underst and the people, their
aspirations and their concerns.
Mrs. Nelson Reid presided for
business. The minutes were read
by the secret ary, Mrs. Harold.
Hackwell. 23 Members answered
the roll call. Mrs. M. Sholdice
gave the treasurer's report.

The Christmas meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. Stewart
McCall with a noon meal.
A miscellaneous sale„ was held
followed by lunch served by Mr s.
Laverne Godkin, Mrs. Charles
McCutcheon and the hostesses.
A number of ladies in the
village were 'busy quilting the
first' of this week at the home of
Mrs. Ralph Traviss.
`Earl Watson': :Mrs. Jack
Gordon, MrS, Allan McCall and
Mrs; Gordon Murray were guests
at the Ethel Institute meeting on
Wednesdayh evening when Don,
Pullen of the Agriculture office,
Clinton, was guest speaker and
showed interesting slides of
Huron County. Mrs. Maud
Leeming has been a patient in
Clinton Public Hospital for the
past week, we all hope she is soon
much improved.
Plans are, being made for
another euchre in the Community
Hall Friday evening sponsored by
the Walton W.I. •
Mrs. James W. Daley of
Blenheim spent last week at the
manse with her daughter Jean
and grandchildren, Christen and,
Mark, while Rev. Docket
attended a special course in
Toronto.
The U.C.W. members afire
requested to have their articles of
good used clothing or new
clothing for the' bale, to be left in
the church basement no lat er
than this coming Sunday.
Mr. Jerry R'y'an is a patient in 'a
London Hospital, following a
serius accident when a piece of
.'teel went in near his eyes,
making surgery necessary,

UCW ladies are busy quilting
Traviss' home. The nominating
committee to bring in the new
officers for the coming year are:
Mrs.,Herb Traviss, Mrs. Ron
Bennett and Mrs. Gerald Watson.
Copper contest money was
collected. Mrs. Bill Coutts' side
were the winners. It was decided
to have a supper for the
December meeting in the form of
a Christmas Party at the church
on December 10th with Mrs.
Torrence Dundas' side in charge
of arrangements.
Mrs. Reid closed the meeting
with prayer. Lunch was served by
Mrs. Fred Dunk, Mrs. Ernie St
evens, Mrs. Jack Gordon and the
host ess, Mrs. Docken.

The McKillop U.C.W.
members met at the home
ofMisses Ethel and Teenie
Dennis in Seaforth, November
14th with 12 members and 4
visitors present.
Mrs., Norman Schade opened
the meeting with a poem,
"Remembrance Day 1973"."O
God our help in Ages Past" was
sung. Scripture from John 1:
23-36 was read by Mrs. 'Dave
Watson. Mr s. Stewart McCall
had the meditation, entitled "To
Live is to Suffer", followed by
Mrs. Schade leading in prayer.
Offering was received by Mrs.
Merton Hackwell, and dedicated •
by Mrs. Schade.
Mrs. Murray Dennis had as her
topic, "Our Purpose", also read a
poem "No Time". "Lord; while
for all mankind we -pray" was
sung. Mrs. N. Schade closed the
devotions with prayer.
Mrs.. John Burch, President,
presided for business, thanking,
Ethel and Teenie Dennis for,
offering, their home, for the
meeting, and all those whO had
taken part in the devotions, also
welcomed the visitors.
