People, we know $50,000. tax greee gift on the death of b father, • 1 pointed out that what this does, in effect, is to encourage the retention of ownership by the father until his death and confines etate planning to be carr ied out mainly under the terms of a will. I suggested the inclusion of forgiveness of debts related to the purchase of farm property by a member of the family would encourage fathers to turn over their farms to their sons during t heir lifetime rather than on their death. This is the only kind of long term estate planning that makes any sense. It gives the son the security he has to have in order to remain on the farm during the father's lifetime. • The Labour Minist er Fern' Guindon, announced this week an increase of.20 cents in the Gener al Minimum Ontario Wage to take the r ate of $1.80 an hour to $2. Effective January 1st, 1975 the' work week will he shorteriend to 44 hours. The Snccession Duty Act was debated this week.
