The area to the south, east and
west of Brussels spent Tuesday
afternoon digging out from under
the first snow storm ' of the
_season, also the first snow fall of
the season. The village . of
Brussels Was spared the worst of
the storm. The sun shone
Tuesday morning, and although
some snow fell the blizzard
ignored the immediate Brussels
area.
Drivers reported that visibility
was very poor between Seaforth
and Walton but clear between
Walton and_Brussels.
Driving conditions were hazar-
dous along Highway 0 between
Goderich andstratford. One truck
driver said "Lot's of people are in
the ditch, but I.' didn't see any

The accident is under investi-
gation by the Wingham Detach-
ment of the O.P.P. •
Mrs. Edna Harris, 82,, of
'Brussels, was killed f in 'Sarnia
when the st ation wag6n in which
she, and her husband, Sam
Harris, were passengers was
struck broadside by a dump truck
about 2 p.m. on Monday. Mr.
Harris, who is partially blind, was
critically injured. Clarence Har-
der, driver of the st ation wagon, '
ne 'phew of Mr. Harris, and his
wife Irene were in satisfactory
condition in St. Joseph's Hos-
pital.
Mr. and Mrs. Harris, who came
from the Detroit area, have been
residents of Brussels for about
three years and have spent the
winter months each year in
Florida. They left Brussels on
Monday with. Mr. and Mrs.
Harder of Royal Oak, Michigan,
to spend a few days in Detroit
before going ;to Florida. They
have no immediate family. Mr.
Harris has a brother in Detroit.
