A motion by Oscar Kieffer of R.R.1, Bluevale, that an inexperienced custodian be trained by one of the regular custodians was defeated in a recorded vote (called by David Teahen). The anniversary celebration will be held Sunday, November 4, beginning with a dinner in the church hall at 12:30 p.m. Mrs. Patricia Meidinger, secretary of St. Ambrose Parish, Zurich, wrote the Board thanking them for installing a portable classroom at the school to overcome the crowded conditions and complirrienting them' on the quality of the teachers at the school. David Teahen, chairman of the Personnel Committee, reported his committee had met with the teachers' negotiating committee on October 17 and will meet wit h them again onOctober 24. .The 1973-74 salary Schedule has not been set as yet for the teachers. Howard Shantz, chairman of the ad hoc committee on building projects, reported that work on the new addition at St. Aloyr sins SChool in. Stratford is sup- posed to be completed by the end of the week. Presently workmen 'are laying the new floor., in the. gym and the landscaping will be completed Tuesday. Painting and other odd jobs are to be finished this week. • Mr. ShantZ said that there is a water problem at St. Aloys:ins and suggested a drainage system that might solve the problem, estimated to Cost between $6,825 and $7,292. Mr. Shantz Was advised to secure more information and to investigate another route for the drain. Mr. Tokar reported that assessment tapes will be available to the AsSeSsrnent Officer, Ed Rowland, op request. A fee to be eligible for this service costs $25. ' Provisions of new school facilities for St. James School, $eaforth at an estimated cost of $520,000 was projected' as the Huron-Perth County Roman Ca- tholic Separate School Board met in Seaforth Monday and approved the 1973 proposed five- year capital expenditure fore- cast. Construction is planned for next year if funds and approval are forthcoming. The forecast is required by the Ministry of Education of all school boards to be made in October each year regardless of method of financing. Joseph Tokar, Acting Super- intendent of Education, stated, as he presented the proposed•list of projects, that what would be done in 19'74 would depend on what money would be made available to the Board for the year. Jack Lane, Business Administrator, said the amount available would be made known to the Board about February. The proposals are as follows for 1974 at a total cost of $945,000: St. James, Seaforth— new accommodation -- five classrooms, one special educat- ion classroom, Industrial Arts, Home Economics, Library Re- source Centre, General Pur- pose Room, Health Room, change rooms and general stor- age -- estimated cost $520,000. St. Patrick's, Kinkora, Library Resource Centre, General Pur- pose Roorn,.change rooms, Health room, general storage and ad-' ministrative area -- estimated cost , $230,000. St. Bonfface, Zurich, 2 classrooms, Library Resource Centre, change. rooms (new): Alterations to existing reading centre, and principal's, office, to administrative area and storage respectivelY.-- esti- mated cost, $195,000. The proposals for 1975 are as follows at a total cost of $380,000; Sacred Heart, Wing- ham, one special education class- room, Library Resource Centre, change rooms and general stor- age -- at an estimated cost of $165,000. St. Joseph's Strat- ford, Library Resouice Centre, general purpose room, change rooms, Health Room, general storage and administrative area-- estimated cost, $215,000. Two smaller projects proposed for 1974 are renovat- ions to existing main entrance to provide a library resource $18,000; and the purchase of a school site of 4 to 5 acres in the Town of Listowel.
