Mrs W.Miller was hostess
for the ladies of the Afternoon
Unit as they met, on Tuesday,
October 2, with 15 members in
attendance and 31 visitations re-
corded for the month of Septem-
ber.
"Thanksgiving" was chosen
by Miss Skelton as the theme for
the Devotions. "In Christ There
is no East or West" was sung and
prayer was offered by Miss Skel-
ton. The Scripture, 103 Psalm,
was read by Mrs. J. Smith.
"Thanksgiving Thoughts" were
contributed by Miss Skelton.
Prayer was offered by Mrs. R.
Cousins while Mrs. J. DeVries
gave the "Thought for Today."
The Tha.nkoffering Service
will be held on the evening of
October 24 when the ladies of
the town and surrounding chur-
ches will be invited to attend.
Mrs. M. Davidson, Brucefield,
who spent some time in India as
a teacher, will ' be the guest
speaker. Members were remind-
ed of the Regional meeting to be
held in Fordwich on October 17.
Articles of clothing for the bale
may be left in the church hall or
brought to the U.C.W. meeting
in November.
, Miss Lucas continued the stu-
dy on India as she told of the
dense population, 500 million,
who live in' many villages
throughout the country. Great
cities such as Calcutta, New Del-
hi, Benares, Madras, Agra, har-
bour some of the world's greatest
ancient culture. To conserve
water and to promote healthcare
are the greatest needs of India's .
millions. The poverty of so many
millions is saddening but their
bravery gives hope for India's
future. .
