A surprise party was held for Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Snell by their relatives on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniver- sary. A social, time was spent and they were presented with a swag lamp.. . The Bluevale 11 4-H Club Gourmet Gals held their '7th meeting on Friday evening with nine members present.' The girls made Almo- d Cakes. Elliott. Mr. Norman Hall of Aylmer called on. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hal on Sunday. Other visitors during the week at the Hall home were Mrs. Eve- lyn Biller and son Jim, and. Mrs. Airnetta Masters of Grimsby and Mrs. Olive Gallaher of Erin and Mrs. Carey Ferguson of Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Gray spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Walker and family. The third meeting of the Blue- vale 111 'Universal Homemakers' was held on Tuesday, September 25th at the home of Rosemary Schmidt. Minutes were read by Joanne Schmidt. Eight members answered the roll call which was "Name a Recipe or Food, char- acteristic of England, Ireland, Scotland or. Wales." The secre- tary for the next meeting will be Roberta Pullman. Mary Edith Garniss discussed British tradi- tions and English foods. Rose- mary Schmidt discussedScotland and Ireland recipes from count- ries. The members made Eng lish Trifles which were sampled. Aerial balloon featured at TeeswaterFair Teeswater Fall Fair which has become an annual tradition for many people in this part of Ontario is set for Thanksgiving weekend, October 5 and 6. Donald M. Gillies of Toronto who will officially open the 118th annual Fair is a former native of Teeswater, and presently is Regional Director of the Ontario VIA. Four new' features this year will be a Clown Contest, a metal sculpture class and Bruce Countys First Tractor Pull. A chicken barbecue will provide a full meal for the first time. Harold Snell of Exeter, was the guest speaker at the Masonic Centennial Church, Service, a combined church service for Blyth and Wingham Masonic Lodges when a large number •of visiting brethern from other area lodges attended recently. - - - Blyth Board of Trade will resume their regular fall hours, starting, Friday, October 5th. From then u Christmas all Blyth stores wil 1 remain open until 9 p.m. on Friday nights instead of a:30 p.m. as during the summer months. ' The Teeswater News reports that William Rettinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Rettinger, Teeswater, has been transferred from Toronto to Cranbrook, B.C. as Manager of the Toronto-Dominion Bank there. - - - a former resident, Ida Elizabeth Cassan, now of Toronto celebrated her 102nd birthday recently. She is a retired school teacher. According to the Lucknow Sentinel, Mr. and Mrs. John Blue i of Ripley, marked their 50th wedding anniversary recently. - - - A public meeting will be held on Monday, October 1st in the Lucknow Town• Hall to discuss the possibility of forming a Kinsmen Club for Lucknow and - - Mr. and Mrs. J. Wesley Joynt-of Lucknow observed their 60th wedding anniversary recently. 'Mr. Joynt is -the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jolin Joynt, St: Helens and Mrs. Joynt is the former Edith Freeman, Peterborough, but lived in Seaforth and Ethel districtbefore coming to Lucknow in 1909. • To develop Community Health Centre is the heading in the Mitchell Advocate. Following a monday night meeting of the Mitchell and District Memorial Hospital. Board a recommendation of the planning committee shows evidence of concrete action in that it was decided to enter into an agreement with the Ministry of Health to develop a Com- munity Health Centre. - - - Lockhart Furniture has -been advised by architects Kyles, Lyles and Garratt that their tenders submitted for various furnishings for Ritz Lutheran. Villa have been accepted. They include the supplying of beds and bedroom furniture in the amount of $29,503.38 and furniture for the dining room for the sum of $4,169.44. In the Wingham Advance times an item tells us that this year's Santa Claus Parade, sponsored by the Wingham Business Association, will be held on Saturday, December 8th. The Goderich Signal-Star reports that Bill Coughlan has been named new mine manager taking over from Gordon Muir who retired in August. Succeeding Bill Coughlan as production manager is Karl Butler who has been a Goderich resident since 1969 ,and- has a total of 18 years working experience with Sifto Salta Bob Chapman has been appointed to the newly created position of chemical super- intendent. Exeter Times-Advocate reports that the cause of Vie fire which destroyed a large barn on the Stephen Township farm of Jim Brand; Wednesday night, remains undetermined. The Exeter and Crediton fire departments answered the call. Wednesday night. The loss has been estimated at $20,000. Mr. Brand plans on rebuilding. - - - Three Zurich youths were each fined $75 or seven days in jail after pleading guilty to mischief charges. The youths were charged by police following an investigation of an incident in which several windows were broken in Huron County road department shed near Zurich on September 15th. - - Reeve Derry Boyle indicated this week that centennial celebrations will probably cost ratephyers less than $1,000. The Clinton News-Record reports that the town may have a 70 home subdivision in the new year if plans announced by a Gode rich developer are carried out. The land is already ,subdivided into streets and lots on subdivision plan dating back to the 1890's. The property in question is situated /in Northwest Clinton. - - - Clinton Presbyterians gathered in St. Andrew's Church hall recently to honour their retiring minister, Rev. T.C. Mulholland. Presentations followed the pot luck supper from the congregation and from the Sunday School to Mr. Mulholland, and also for Mrs. Mulholland who was unable to be present due to illness. Mr. Mulholland came to St. Andrew's as a charge along with Seaforth following the sudden passing of the former minister, Rev. R. U. MacLean in July, 1970.
