Thirty-two residents with September birthdays we
honoured on Wednesday aftereoon at .a party sponsored
the Ethel and Moleswerth Wontens Institutes. Mrs. Pearso
President of the Ethel Institute and M.C. for the occasi
introduced the program which ineluded a Sing-A Long 1
by Mrs. 'Fodden accompanied by Mrs. Stan Speiran,
piano, violin duet. by Cecil Bateman:and Normark Beirne
accordion solos by Mrs. Pfeifer and vocel solos by M:
Peter Dekker of Molesworth accompanied by Mrs.Freerna
of Gorrie. Gift's were presented to the thirty-two celebrant
followed by a social half hour. Mrs. Paisley who had th
honour of having the most September Birthdays expresse
the appreciation of the residents.
The '"Silver Strings", who have been visiting, the Horn
regularly since they 'were oyganized three years ago en
tertained on. Family Night Thisgroup of young musician
from the Winthrop area, have become very popular wit
the residents playing some of the new -tunes as well a
some of the old favourites. Mrs.Ryan, a native of winthro
thanked the entertainers.

E, $6,720 and F, $6,900. Minis-

a 1974 Salary Policy Committee.
It will be composed of 4 or
more laymen, (some non-pres-
bytery members) and one clergy-
man who will take a hard look
at recommendations for 1974
salaries from General Council.
The Committee has been asked
to study what other PresbyterieS
in Ontario are doing and as well,
other professions and make a,
report at the next meeting-.

he saw this as an important
tension which we must keep.
Just as the strings of a guitar
must be tense to play music,
so too the church can bring

a variety of evangelical thrusts;

CHURCH TO HAVE
BOOTH AT PLOWING .MATCH
In other regtdar business
during day-long meeting, it was
learned that the London Con-
ference Task Force on 'Rural
Life will have a booth at the
International. Plowing Mateh, to
be held near Alvinston. Its theme,
will be Quality of Life, and will
feature video-tape recordings of
the United Church's Moderator,
Rev. Bruce McLeod and
video-tape recordings of on-the-
spot interviews. There will also
bey book displays, • posters,
movies; tapes and live music.
Presbytery approved the call
to. Rev. John Oestreieher from
Wesley-Willis United Church,
Slinton. Rev. Oestricher will
assume his duties as their new
pastor on Nov. 15. pther new
men in the. Presbytery this year
are the Rey. Grant Dawson who
was settled on the Ki'rkton-Wood-
ham Charge, and the Rev.George
Ball who is the new Minister
for the Milverton United Church.
Also Mr. L. King has assumed
duties as Student Supply 'on the
Blitevale Charge. These were
all welcomed into the Presbytery
by the chairman, Rev. Doug
Warren of Crediton. '
Rev. Don Dees, of Mitchell,
the Stewardship. Division Chair.;
Man, reported that there has been
a 3,6% overall increase in giVings
to the Church's MiSsion And Ser-
vice Fund over last year. Bet'
he also noted that with ,only 4
months left the United Church' _
was only half way to its total
objective of $11,500,000. -
Rev. Ray Lindsay of Menkton,
is to be in charge of setting up
an Audio-Visual Library for the
use of the Churches in Presbje,
