Seaforth onday approved paying to the illage of Zurich in one lump um, $1,785, the water services rontage charge for 375 feet for Boniface School in" Zurich. The Board approved the ap- ointment of Mrs. C ecilia Mittle- oltz as Grade 4 - 5 teacher at t, Boniface School in Zurich. Joseph Tokar of Stratford was ppointed to the acting capacity f Superintendent of Education r the Board during the leave absence (without pay) for the uperintendent of Education John 'intar, who is to pursue f 'rther studies toward a doc- t. ate in educational adminis- ;ration. The 'studies will be at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. The Board approved the in- stallation of a portable classroom for St. Boniface School at Zurich -- to be installed as soon as possible. Mr. Vintar spoke:of the pro- posal to introduce the use of the VD Kit in teaching Health in Grade 7 to 10. Mr. Tokar reported the Ministry of Health had been concerned with the increase in VD cases in adolescents. As a result the Ministry of, Health formulated the Kit which in- cludes slides, tapes , trans- parencies, pamphlets. The Ministry of Education will leave the decision to individual school boards as to whether they intro- duce it into schools under their jurisdiction. The : Board members will invite the Huron-Perth .Deanery to meet with Dr. F. Mills of the Huron county Health Unit to view the Kit and to consider whether to introduce it 'in the separate schools. in Huron and Perth Counties. , Two new school zones have been set up in Mornington. Town- ship and in the Village of Brus- sels for separate school child- ren 'in these areas. The Brus- sels children will be transported to Sacred Heart School in Wingham and the Mornington children to St. Mary's School at Hesson. A letter was received from the Devan Park Ratepayers Associa- tion in Stratford indicating they are unable .to continue to maintain the property loaned from the Huron-Perth Board as a play- ground for area children. Trustee, Howard Shantz of Strat- ford, is to enquire if this is a permanent situation or only for the remainder of this year. A cheque was enclosed for payment of grass cutting in the playground. Following this discussion on the school property the question' arose about the value of posting liunauthroized person" signs on school sites. .Tq.ck Lane, Business P 11W :...1.rator, re- ported that by posting such signs on property it gives the police the right to remove any person fro m the premises and that any resident of nearby properties may notify the police of unauthor- ized persons on the site and ask that they be removed. It was suggested that if this were done it might cut down on broken windows and other vandalism around schools. The Board approved the re- quest of Rev. Michael Hughes of St. Joseph's Church in Stratford for the use of St. Michael's School in Stratford for the weekend of October' 2 - 4 as a CORE (Christ in Others Retreat) weekend. The Board will again support the Kiwanis Club of Stratford which sponsors the Music Festival by donating a $75 bur- sary as an award. Vincent Young of Goderich was authorized to follow-up the , costs for St. Mary's Separate school in Goderich of a proposed municipal storm drain for the Town of Goderich. Print- tuts were handed out by F. J. Vere, chairman of the Finance and Insurance Com- mittee with instructions to trustees to have questions ready for the'next meeting. Mr. Lane reported the bank lending rate is now 9 per cent, up from 7 per cent in Septem- ber. Act. Six charges laid and nine warnings issued under the High- way Traffic Act. Twenty-four other investi- gations. On Monday, September 17, Larry W. Thacker of R.R. # 2, • Bluevale, was involved in a single car accident on Concession13-14, west of Sideroad 15-16, Grey Township. There were no injuries, and damages were esti- mated at $75. On Wednesday, September 19, Langsajok Jadama of Brussels, Was involved in a single car accident on Concession 7-8, east of Huron County Read #12 in which his- pickup truck was damaged to the extent of $300. No one was injured as a result of the accident. On Sunday, September 23, Murray J. Cardiff of Brussels struck a cattlebeast on Highway 186;west of the Perth-Huron county Line, owned by Lawson Doig.
