HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Brussels Post, 1973-09-26, Page 8Obituary WILLIAM CECIL MCKINNON Following a short illness, William Cecil McKinnon, beloved husband of Edith Catherine, passed away at his residence, 14 Glenview Ave., Toronto, Ont. The late Mr. McKinnon was the last surviving member of the family of the late Hugh and Isa- bella McKinnon of Grey Twp. He was predeceased by his. brother8 Robert, Duncan and Ross and two sisters, Annabelle (Mrs. A. Armstrong) and Helen (Mrs. R.E. Robertson). A nep- hew, Spence McKinnon of Grimsby and niece Isabel (Mrs. John MacTavish) of Brantford survive. Following a private family service on Monday, September 17 Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto. An open meeting of the Walton Women's Institute was held in the Community Hall on Friday evening for the Family and Con- sumer Affairs meeting which was convened by Mrs. George McCall and. Mrs. Ron Bennett. The guest speakers, Drs. Gerd and Jean Westermann of Burlington, were introduced and showed slides of their trip to. Africa where they spent some time in Kenya, East Africa, which is south of the equator. 'ihey both told of their experiences there, which was most interesting and informative. They were thanked and presented with a gift. The Henderson trio from Sea- forth, Debbie, Darlene and Donna entertained with their singing and tap dancing numbers several tunes during the program and were assisted by their mother at the piano. They were also presented with a gift on behalf of the Institute. President, Mrs. Allan McCall conducted the business. Minutes were read by Mrs. Ken McDonald and the Roll Call *as answered with a gift for the Cancer Cup- board in wingharn. The corres- pondence was dealt with. It was decided to send a donation to the Huronview auxiliary to be used to help purchase a van for wheel chair residents. The County Rang, October 1, is to be held in Centralia, with Mrs. Herb Traviss and Mrs. Ray Huether as voting delegates. A lengthy discussion followed on the W.I. Bursary Fund at the Children's Aid Society at Goderich in regard to` the use of the money. Mrs. Don Achilles reported on the work that had been done by the hall committee, clean-up committees were suggested. A lot of painting and remodelling has been done, also new toilets installed. Susan Humphries and Anne Watson have offered to do some varnishing. The Area Convention will be held in Kitchener on November 1,2 with Mrs. Don Achilles to be the delegate, Mrs. A.
