Now that the many organiza-
tions and societies are again
active after the summer vacation
period we ask that those res-
ponsible, send in an account of
their activities to The Post as
soon as possible after each
meeting. We are pleased to
publish them for you and will
be grateful for your ea-operation.

Such a short time ago, con-
versations were filled with•
complaints about the heat and
humidity. Now people are
shivering in the cold breezes.
Folks have been covering flowers
and plants in an effort to save
them from frost for Brussels
Fair, October 3rd and 4th. Such
extremes of temperatures so
suddenlY have been hard to take
for some people. Many are
complaining of colds, sore
throats, etc. * * * * * *
Our local swine breeders con-
tinue their winning ways. They
carried off top awards at the
Western Fair, London, last week.
Wilbur Turnbull had the Grand
Champion Lacombe Boar and the
Grand Champion Lacombe' Sow.
John VanVliet captured the prizes
for both the Reserve Grand
Champion Boar and Sow. Con-
gratulations once more to both.

Ontario Sales tax returns are
an aggravating nuisance to
business People. The simple
fact is we are compelled by the
government to collect the tax
from customers, compile all the
figures requested, compute the
tax payment required from these
figures, and fill out the form
provided. Do not forget to enclose
the cheque for same and do not
be late with the return or we
are fined. All this, now with-
out even the meager recompense
once allowed.

This early cold spell is
playing havoc with those who are
conscious of the conservation of
home heating oil. Should we dot,
so soon, the long john red
flannels, bundle up in sweaterS,
and pile on the wool blankets or
turn up the thermostat? The
much-talked-up oil shortage to
come and the need for conserving
energy, let alone the uncertainty
of how high oil cost will shy-
rocket, poses a problem in just
how to keep warm to the best
advantage.
(Continued from Page 1)
the danger. Many are careful,
ride single fire, close to the
curb on the proper side of the
street and obServe driving rules.
Parents should instruct their
children in proper riding
behaviour and be sure they under-
stand and follow them. If they
do not -it is inevitable that, sooner
or later, there will be a. fatal
accident.
