The meeting opened with the Opening Ode, Mary Stewart Col- lect, and the Lord'sPrayer. Roll call was a display of articles from other countries, which was very interesting. Motto "To a child, you cannot answer tomorrow, today is his name", was given by Mrs: Chester Earl. Busi- ness was conducted by Mrs. Lothar Weber, when the visit to Huronview, September 19th was dealt with i also meetings in Kitchener, Wroxeter, Cranbrook, Centralia, were discussed and a. turkey supper to cater to was also dealt with. Mrs. Chester Earl introduced Mrs. Nick Terpstra who spoke on her trip to •Australia last spring which was much enjoyed. She was thanked by Mrs. Bill Dobson and presented with a gift. ' Meeting closed with grace and lunch was served, by Mrs. L. Weber and Mrs. G. Pearson. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Chester Earl when Dr. Peter Hemingway will speak. 96TH ANNIVERSARY The 96th Anniversary of Ethel United Church was held Sunday. Rev. Stan Brenton spoke in the morning and Mrs. Stan Brenton in the evening. He was a former minister of Ethel and now both take services near Chatham. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Dunne and family of Dundas visited Mr. and Mrs. Percy Stephenson over the weekend. Miss Betty Lynn of Toronto,, Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn O'Brien of Sharon visited Mr. and Mrs. George Lynn. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Pearson of Exeter visited Mrs. Alex Pear- son and family. Mr. and Mrs. Don Eadie and family of Wingham visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Doug Evans. Mrs. Bert Godderi and Bonnie visited for a couple days in Rexdale. Mrs. Irene Campbell and Mrs. Mabel Brown of Listowel visited Mr. and Mrs. W. Krauter. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Scheerer and Mr. and Mrs. a. Krotz of Elmira visited Wedniv 'at in Lucan with Mr. and Mn.. Wm. Salter, Mr. Sim Bremner of 12th of Grey visited Mr. and Mrs. A. Bremner. • Mr. and Mrs. Sam Beirnes of Listowel visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Carl McDonald. Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Henry and Keith of Wingham, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Smith of Listowel and Mr. and Mrs. Jim McTaggart of Brussels visited Dr. and. Mrs. Wardlaw: Dr. and Mrs. Jim Hall and ' .family of Port Colborne visited Mr. arid Mrs. Roy Hall. MEAT PERCENTAGE Meat Makes up nearly 40 percent of the average family's food expenditures. McVITTIE- Yellow candelabra with shasta daisies adorfied St. John's An- glican Church, Brussels, on August 25, 1973, when Linda Mae Elliott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Elliott, of R.R. 2, Blyth, became the bride of Mr. Kenneth William. McVittie of Blyth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy McVittle. Rev,. Fred Carson officiated at the double-ring ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose an A-line gown of white chiffon, with Vic- torian neckline and sheer bishop sleeves. The bodice and neckline were accented with guipure lace as was her elbow length veil and Juliet headpiece. She carried a cascade of yellow sweetheart roses, shasta daisies and baby's breath. Maid of honour was Miss Evelyn %Elliott, cousin of the bride. The bride was also at- tended by. Mrs. Bonnie Witte, sister of the groom, and Mrs. Carol Turnbull, cousin of the bride. They wore identical yellow gowns. The scooped neckline was accented with white collar edged with lace, as were the puffed sleeves. Ties crossed at the bodice and hung down the back to accent the dress. Their en- semble was completed by white wide-brimmed hats and they car- ried nosegays of shasta daisies. Randy Witte, the groom's brother-in-law acted as best man while Bob Nobel and Doug Mc ELLIOTT Vittie ushered the guestS. They wore beige jackets with dark brown lapels, brown slacks and ' yellow ruffled shirts with brown bow ties. Traditional wedding music was played by Mrs. Sharon Ste- phenson, as well as "We've only just Begun" and "Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet". The bride's mother received guests wearing a floral gown with white accessories and a corsage of red sweetheart roses. The .groom's mother assisted wearing a floral gown with white acces- sories and corsage of pink sweet- heart roses. That evening a receptionwas held at the Brussels Legion Hall with music provided by Ken Scott's orchestra. • For travelling, the bride chose a blue and white patterned dress accented with ties crossing at .the bodice, and a white collar edged with lace. She carried one long stemmed red rose. FolloWing their trip to Eastern Ontario, the couple will reside in London. MARGARET HOY Mrs. lVfargaret Lamont Hey paSeed away in Huronview, Clinton, on Monday, September 10th, 1973, in her 39th year. The former Margaret Riley Lamont, she was the widow of the late William. Hoy, and a former resident of Brussels. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Fanny Parr of Grey Town ship, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held from the M.L. Watts Funeral Home,Brussels, at 2:00 p.m. on hursday, September 13th. The Rev. E. LeDrew of Brussels United Church officiated. Burial, took place in Brussels cemetery.
