There has been much res-
ponse and co-operation in the
appeal for funds. The Fair Board
have been generous and the Lions
Club has aided with some fin-
ancial assistance as have a
number of private citizens. The
results of the membership ,Ariit-
iation Fee" have been good with
several coming forward each
week with fees ($25 single or
$40 per couple).
Volunteers have turned out
,to help with the labor, tractors
and machinery have been sup-
plied, posts trucked and the
grounds surveyed three times
by local carpenters. A work
party from the optimist Club
worked a couple of evenings.
Continued support froin pre-
sent subscribers and with the
addition of more members Should
ensure that tbe community
project will succeed.
The newlYorganized Brussels

its charter, Saturday night at
a dinner meeting held in the
Brussels Legion Hall.

trict Governor for Zone 7. Op-
timist international, presented
the charter to the new president,
George Langlois.
The club was sponsored by
the Optimist Club of Moorefield.

meeting besides the president

Bray and Ralph Haveman;

program in BrusSels.
Gifts were presented to the
new club by other local Optimist
Clubs - banner, flag, lectern,
bell and gavel, creed banner
and dinner badges.
The guest speaker for the
meeting was William Haight,
London, a candidate for govern')
at the convention in Ottawa later
this month.
He said to go forth, one must
first set out. He urged the mem-
bers to accept the challenge in
order to start up the grade to
success.
'To wholly understand this
one must 'first take stock of
himself and realize what involve-
ment is needed," he said. "Once
a realistic evaluation has' been
accomplished, then the goals can
be set. Build them high, for
a goal which is easily obtainable
can never really be satisfying,"
he continued. "One of the most
satisfying 3 time's in life is when
you can look back and reflect
on your accomplishments," he
added.
"Optimism is a way of life,"
he said, 4, it can be a very stimu-
lating period in which we can all
take part, but one will reap only
the awards, that have been gained
through his accomplishments and
involvements.
Mr. Haight concluded his
remarks by giving the Optimist
Creed and enlarging on each
point.
Guests were present from
Optimist Clubs in Seaforth,
Vanastra, London, Windsor,
Scarborough, Kitchener, water-
loo, Lambeth, St. Thomas, Mount
Forest and Moorefield and local
municipal officials and.represen-
tatives of local organizations.

Enumerators
lose forms .
Enumerators will have to
make a second visit to many
homes in Huron and Perth this
week because 2,300 completed
enumeration -fonts were stolen
from the Regional Assessment
office in Goderich last Week.
Barry Eastwood, regional
assessment commissioner called
the theft "strange (strange and senseless"
and commented that the
forms have no value for the
average person.
Nothing else was taken froth
the assessment office behind the
Huron County, Jail, except the
forms which are used to draw
up voters' lists; school support
list for local taxation and census
figures. Goderich municipal
police. are investigating.
150 part time enumerators
will take two or three days to
duplicate the stolen forms, Mr.
EastWood said. ,
