ball tournament in Brussels on
Labor Day, defeating Walton 9-5
in the final game and took the
Queen's Hotel' trophy. Each
player was presented with replica
trophies by the Queen's.

was named the most valuable
player.

The Sabres and wee Stinkers
tied at a game apiece, •meeting
in a game to the end. Both
teams began well with it shaping
up to a pitching duel, 'but the
Sabres broke it wide open with an
8-run exPolsion in the 5th inning.
The Smellies got 5 in their sixth,
but couldn't come back, there-
fore, losing 15-11. These two
teams were as equal as could
possiblY be imagined but someone
had to lose, so the Stenchies
are now done for the season.
The victors now tackle the
barnstorming Barons in the finals
which is shaping up to be a real
tooth and fang battle. The first
game is at 8:30 Wednesday,
Sept. 5, so don't forget to get
out and root for your favourites.

A World of Food in Canada.
The first meeting on Aug-
ust 27th opened with the 4-H
Pledge and Motto. The election
• of officers were - Janet Coultes
president, Joan Black, vice
president, Janice Dunbar, secre-
tary, Muriel Taylor, press re-
porter.
Two of the early Canada
recipes demonstrated were Suc-
cotash , a mixture of lima beans
and corn, and Blueberry Buckle.
The l3elgrave Junior Auxil-
iary met in the Orange Hall on
Saturday morning with. Audrey
Scott leading in the opening
exercises. Janet Johnston was
in charge of the roll call.
Minutes were read by Lisa
Thompson. Audrey Scott helped
with the worship service. Joan
Higgins and Kelly Lougheed col-
lected the offering and Julie
Guay recited the offertory
prayer. The treasurer's report
was given by Joan Higgins.

Fire damage

Fire in the upper storey, of
the barn was first spotted by
nine-year, old - •Harry Boven,
• The family was able to free. only
five calves while ten were killed
by the flames. .
Also destroyed besideS the
large barn was a smaller barn,
the season's crops - 3,000 bales:
of hay, -4,000 bales of straw;
a diesel tractor, and milking
equipment.
Seaforth 'firemen under chief
Don Hulley hosed down an imple-
ment shed and while deing this
were summoned to the farm of
K.J. Thompson, about a half mile
east on Concession 6 where flying
embers are 'believed to haVe
started a fire on the roof of the
barn.
The Clinton Fire Department
was called to' assist the Sea-i
forth firemen but their services
were not required as the Seaforth
men were able to extinguish
the flames on the ThompSon roof
before Clinton arrived.
About nine o'clock in the
evening, Seaforth firemen again
were called to the Boven farm
where a change in wind was
carrying flying embers from the
smouldering fire north toward the
implement shed and the 'farm
Home.
