Mrs. Isabella Hamilton of Huronview and formerly of
Auburn celebrated her 99th birthday last Sunday and her
family held a small birthday party for her last Saturday.
Mrs. Hamilton was the first "woman to give birth to a white
child in the Klondike in the late 1890's. Left to right are:

MRS. WILLIAM BAKER
Mrs. William H. Baker,89,
of Ethel, died in Listowel
Memorial Hospital Friday. She
was born on con. 14 of Elma
Township, R.R.1, Monkton, and
was the former Susan Rowland,
daughter ofthe late Mr. and Mrs.
John Rowland and had lived in
that area all her life.
Following her marriage she
and her husband farmed until
retiring to Ethel about 20
years ago.
She -was a member of St.
Alban's- St. David's Anglican
Church;
Her husband died about 15
years ago. A daughter, Mrs.
William (Greta) Coneybeare,
also predeceased her.
Surviving are: sons, Victor
of Milburn, Alta., Vance 6f Grey
County; 10 grandchildren; and
15 great grandchildren.
The body was at Peebles
funeral home in Atwood where
the service was held at 2 p.m.
on Monday. Rev. W. M. Thomas
officiated.
Burial followed at Mount
Pleasant cemetery, Ethel.
MISS ALICE J. FORREST
Miss Alice J. Forrest died
suddenly on Tuesday evening,
August 14, while vacationing with
'friends at Point Clark. She
was born on. February 25th, 1891,
in Jamestown, and came toC ran-
brook with her parents as a young
girl. She was the-only daughter
of the late John Forrest and his
wife, Agnes J. Scott.
She was a faithful member of
Knox Presbyterian Church, a life
member of the W.M.S., served as
Church organist for many years,
Sunday School teadher, and
seeretary-treastirer of the
cluirdh. She taught school in
Grey Township at S.S. No. 8
and S.S. No.
She is survived by several
cousins and was pre-Icleteaseclby
a brother William.
Funeral service was held at
the M.L. Watt Funeral ildmei
Brussels at 2 p.m. on Thursday,
August 16, with gel/. Edwin. 0,
Nelson officiating and burial in
Brussels cemetery.
Pallbearers Were: Jack Mit-,
chelli, John A. Perridi Stanley
Fischer, Gordon Engel, Earl
bum and Kenneth Maclibriaid.
