M. Hill, soils and .crops specialist, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and. Food. The service was developed to bring buyers and sellers of dried, high-moisture and ear corn to- gether, The Corn Exchange allows producers to increase the size of their buying or selling areas. This year the Exchange has been expanded to include cereal grains. Ontario farmers feed more than 6 million tone of grain annually. Feed is the major expense in livestock production, and to remain economically via- ble producers most either in- crease production or cut ,their costs. The Corn Exchange, should help reduce costs. After ., registering, supplying information as to type of grain, quantity involved, whether buy- ing or selling 'and the details of sale, registrants will receive literature on how to buy and sell all- kinds of grain, plus a list of ecale and moisture testing locations (including any ,service charges involved). A list of buyers and pellers will also be included as well as the prices at points in the cooperating count- ies. Last year the service in- cluded Peel, Halton, Perth, Well- ington, Waterloo, Bruce, Grey, Dufferin and Simcoe counties. The list is divided into 2 types of corn, shelled (both high- moisture and dried) and ear. The list will be revised each Wed- nesday according to ,the current Market and sent out to those in the Exchange. The person, who registers must contact the pur- chaser or vendor about price and other sale details. ' The Exchande will not become involved in pricing decisions, says Mr. Hill. The function of the Exchange is to bring buyers and sellers together. Buyers and sellers can reg. ister With the' Corn Exchange by contacting the local office of the Ontario Ministry of Agricul- ture and Food, or the Soils and Crops Branch, Crop Science De. partment, University of Guelph,
