OPP reports area .accidents. Sabres, -Barons fight for •
first place in standings • •
Recent investigations carried
out by the OPP of Wingham
detachment include: 12 investi-
gations with twelve persons
charged under the Liquor Control
Act; 5 charges laid and fifteen
warnings issued tinder the High-
way Traffic Act; 25 investiga-
tions carried out with three per-
sons charged under the Criminal
Code of Canada; on July 4, Robert
D. Pegg of Bluevale and C, David
Ross Goll of RR 4, Wingharn
were involved in a collision on'
Sideroad 30-21 at the junction of
Concession 1-2, Morris Town-
ship. There were no injuries
as a result of the accident and
damages were estimated at$450.
Charges are pending. On July
5, Harold George France of wing-
ham and Francis Joseph Kane
of Arlington, Texas were involved
in a two-car collision on Highway
86 at the C.N.R. X-ing, Turn-
berry Township. No one was
injured, and damages were esti--

mated at $1'75.00.
On July 5, Dean Hackwell,
age 12, Walton, was seriously
injured as a result of collision
'with a vehicle driven by Lorne
Ruby of Wellesley. Dean Hack-.
well was riding a bicycle at the
time of the accident,
On. July 21, Barry G. Taylor
of R,R. #2, Wingham entered the
west ditch of Helena Street, Turn-
berry Township and struck a rail
fence. He Was not injured, and
total damages' were estimated at
$150.00. Charges are pending.
On July 13, Merritt G. Bur-
well of R.R. # 1, 13lyth was injured
as a result of a single car ac-
cident on Elizabeth Street in
Brussels when his vehicle Struck
a fire hydrant. Damages to the
Burwell vehicle were estimated
at $600.00.
On July 14, Marie J. Scheib
backed her vehicle out of a drivez-
way and struck a vehicle owned
by John G. Galbraith of wingh-
ham. Damages were minor.
On July 15, Glen Walden of
R.R. #2, Lucknow was westbound,
on Highway 86 when a cattlebeast
owned by Rae Breckenridge, ran
in front of his vehicle and was
Struck. Walden was not in tired
and damages, to his vehicle Were
minor.

result
The Brussels Pee Wees visited
the Seaforth pee Wees July 12th
at the Seaforth Lion's Park de-
feating the Base Trotters 21 to 3.
The Hit and Runners defeated
the Wipe Outs 14 - 13 and the
Laverty Mites defeated the
'Broom's Mites 18 to 8.
In the near future the Pee
Wees, will be meeting the. Brod-
hagen Pee Wees and the Brussels
teams. The Stratford Mites have
invited the Seaforth Mites for
a game soon.
SPORTS
• leading Sabres nip the Wee Stink-
ers 4-2. Both teams played good
ball with the victors scoring 3 of
'their 4 runs in the first inning.
Frank Stretton, the scourge of the
league took another victory to up
his record. 4-1-2. Murray Lowe
took *the loss, although, striking
out 9 batters, walking 3 batters
and allowing 9 hits. The game
was highlighted by the unfort-
unate disintegrating of the thread
in Bob 'Red Beard' Thomas'
pants.
The second contest was a
wide open affair, with a slug-
fest the outcome. The stubborn
Barons came out on top 29-18
to stay within one point of first.
The Aristocrats "big inning' was
the fifth, when they scored 10
runs while the losers got 10 big
ones in their sixth inning. Brian
Rutledge took the win and Ken
Scott took the proverbial loss.

Bob Elliott drove in Frank
StrettOn with the winning run in-
the bottom half of -the ninth inn-
ing with two away for the victory,
On Thursday, Brussels fin-
ished off the season with a decis-
lye win over Gorrie. This left
them with an eleven wins and one
loss record.
BrUssels hit a total of five
home runs in their 15-1 romp'
over Gorrie. Chris EXel led the
attack with two. Lloyd Valiance
went four for five and contributed
one homer while •Ken Ritchie and-
Don Laurie had one homer each.

few good hits for his side and
giving a fine display of field-
ing.
Stinkers - Ken 'Big Boot' Graber
kept up his usual good hitting,
going 2 for 3 at the plate.
Barons - Chris 'Cracker' Exel
was a- dynamo for his team,
going 6 for 6, scoring 5 runs
on 3 doubles, 2 singles and a
2 run homer.
M.A.S.H. - •Jack gitterbox' Mc--
Cutcheon was 4 for five, scoring
2 runs sparking, his team 'at the
plate.
