In his address to the players, the guest emphasized the re-• lationship between education and hockey. He said that a career in hockey provides an excellent opportunity for a young player to advance his education through, such means as scholarships and that the increasing number, of players turning pro straight from the college ranks is a good indi- cation of the quality of college hockey. He concluded his talk by relating some of :the fun that an NHL hockey player has. , The rest of the evening was under the capable control of the master of ceremonies, Bruce McCall who added to the program with many interesting and amus- ing anecdotes and kept the intro- ductions and presentations of awards running smoothly. Most Valuable Player and Most ImpreVed Player Awards were preSented.to players in each age group with the winners receiving a trophy. In addition, each winner Will have hiS name put on a plaque whith will be placed in the Minor Sports trophy case in the arena. Most Valuable plaYer Awards went to Sprouts - everyone; Mite$ Terry McCutcheon; ice - Leslie Williams; Pee Wee, Brian Scott; Bantam Murray Nichol; m veniidget - Bruce Blake; and Juvenile Gerald Wheeler. MoSt Improved Player Awards went to Mites Todd Wheeler and Doug McArter; Novice Kenny Biggins; Pee Wee-, Pentad fIggiris Bantam Murray Wheeler; Midget 'rim Wylie; and Juvenile Chris Exei.
