Barons
June 20th saw two totally
different games occur. In the
first contest the Sabres ripped
the Wee Standers 12 - 8, but in
the Wee Stinkers 12 - 8, but in
the nightcap, the Barons steam-
rollered M*A*S*H 39 - 14, The
Smellies gave up 5 runs in both
the first and fifth innings lead-
ing to their downfall, but showed
signs of being a contender. Frank
"Tangia" Stretton went the rout
for the Sabres allowing 10 hits,
1 walk and striking out 8.
Those bustling Barons be-
headed M*A*S*H on the strength
of their 28 hits and 15 walks.
'Ole Hawkeye' Ken Scott could-
n't find the mark and when he
did, the Barons gave the 43.11 a
ride. Three pitchers were used
by the Aristocrats, Brian Rut-
ledge, Chris 'Stringbean' Exel.
and Murray 'Two Step' Kelling-
ton. With the win, the Barons
took over first place, 1 point
ahead of the Sabres.

SABRES: Dandy Don Laurie paced
his team with 3 hits and 5
tries at bat, scoring 3 runs.
STINKERS: Muzzy 'Clipper'
Lowe had 3 hits at 4 times at
bat and scored 2 runs.

sels Royal Canadian Legion Pipe
Band attracted a large audience
to the Legion Hall on. Saturday
night.
Dancing was to, the music of
the Ian wilbee Orchestra with all
enjoying a `highly successful
evening of pleasure.

The Evening. Group of the
W.M.S. of Knox Presbyterian
Church held their June meeting
at the home of Mrs. Stuart Steven-
son with the Afternoon Group as
guests. The Presbyterial visitor,
Mrs. Irvin Coxon,"Milverton, was
present, bringing greetings from
_'the Stratford Presbyterial and a
message on the theme, "Spring
and -a Time of Many Miracles."
Mrs. Gordon Engel presided and
read a poem "A Bit of
Philosophy!' She spoke wordS of
welcome and the hymn "All
Things Bright and Beautiful" was
sung. Mrs. Melvin Becker led
in prayer, Mrs. Leslie Knight
read the minutes and the
treasurer's report was given by
Mrs. Jack Knight. A father's
day verse was given for roll call.
Mrs. Engel reported_briefly on
the June Conference held at Cro-
martyr., Mrs. Clare Veitch con-
ducted a brief meeting to deal
with several items of business
involving the Ladies' Aid. It
was decided to purchase needed
supplies for the Sunday School;
paint for the manse; Hymn Books
for the church and to hold the
usual bazaar in the fall. Mrs.
John Schnock was presented with
a Life Membership certificate on
behalf of the two groups, Mrs.
Stanley Fischer conducting this
and Mrs. Norman Pfeffer pre;
senting the certificate. ',C)
Master, Let Me Walk with Thee"
was sung withIVIrs. Leslie Knight
at the piano. Mrs. Fischer gave
a prayer and Mrs. Stevenson, a
reading "Be the Best Whatever
You are." This led up to thoughts
on our talents in charge of Mrs.
Leslie Knight and Mrs. Engel.
Two groups were formed and each
acted as leader in them. Several
questions were discussed and an-
swered and later both groups
joined and presented their
answers . Closing hymn was
"My Faith Looks up to Thee"
and the president closed with
prayer. Mrs. Becker assisted
the hostess with lunch.
A family dinner in honour of
was the lucky ticket holder in
the draw for the lady's wrist.
Watch -and Doug. Hoover of Sea-
forth won the man's watch.
Spot dance winners were Mr.
and Mrs. George Thorntbn of
Brussels and Mrs. Ruth Huether
of Brussels and. Mrs. Herb
Travis§ of Walton.
the 25th wedding anniversary of
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Mann (Win-
nifred Steiss) was held on Friday
evening in. Listowel, followed by
a celebration in the Community
Centre, Atwood. Mrs. Calvin
Cameron and Miss Emylene
Steiss attended.
Mrs. John Schnock, Mrs. Eve-
lyn Hall, Murray and Joyce, and
Rusel Grant, Toronto, attended
the 25th wedding anniversary
party for. Mr. and Mrs. John
Worden at St. Pauls on Saturday
evening, June 23.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dunn have
returned from an enjoyable two-
week trip to England, Scotland and I
Wales.
Mrs. Calvin Cameron is visit-
ing friends in Galt.
Several of our senior citizens
took in the bus trip to Huronview
on Friday.
Mrs. Lylle Gordon accom=
panied Mrs. Elwood Roe and Miss
Margaret Dickson, Atwood, to
Arva on Sunday afternoon for a
picnic of one of the holiday
groups..
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Engel
and family spent Sunday at
Orangeville with Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Smith.
A pleasant evening was
enjoyed by several couples when
Mrs. Lylle Gordon entertained at
a surprise party for Mr. and Mrs.
Norman Demaray who are moving
to Dorchester.
Visiting Mrs. Stuart McNair
on the weekend were Mrs. W.A.
Williams, Brussels, Miss Myra
McNair and Bill Henry.
Mr; and Mrs. Gordon Mitchell
and son Chris, Thorold, spent
the weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Howard Mitchell.
The two Cranbrook 4-H Clubs
were at Howick. Central School
for Achievement Day on June
23. Mrs. Clare Veitch and Mrs.
Ross Knight are leaders for Club I
and Mrs. Gordon Engel and Mrs.
Jim Knight for Club II. Janet
Veitch received Provincial,
Honours and Anna Lee Stevenson
and Lynn Cameron County
Honours.
