School; Zurich, now principal at Mapleridge. ,Kingsbridge
students expect to make a return visit this fall,

Rev. Lloyd Kalbfleisch, accOrding to the Zurich Citizens
News, was honored on the occasion of the 50th anniversary
year of his ordination. Rev. Kalbfleisch is retired and lives
in Zurich.- Since retiring he filled avacancy existing tempor-
arily at Brodhagen. ,
The. Mitchell Advocate reports that the local Jaycees
presented Clarence Holmes, past president- of the group,
w•Ith, .the Jacee of the -Year Award. Mr.:„Larry Staffen,
. is .4he new '1973-74 president and Bill Volfe, 1st vice-:
president with Ray McNaught as 2nd Vice President,
Peter DeCoo is treasurer. - -Mitchell Fire Area
will purchase a new fire truck, subject to the approval .of
the various councils. Cost of the truck is $33,960, with
trade-in. Cost to each municipality is based on the assess-
ment. Blanshard will pay 1.35%; Fullarton24.78%; Hibbert,
18.83%; Logan 23.4% and Mitchell, 31.63%. - - - Mitchell
Lions Club meeting recently brought in the 19'73-74 officers.

The Blyth Standard reports that the council kas cut
the taxes by 6 mills, The 1973 rates for municipal purposes
are 45 mills for residential and 51 for commercialp compared
to 47 and 55 respectively for last year. Th e county levy
will be 16.5 for both residential and commercial this year
compared to 19.4 in 1972.
The Goderich Signal-Star reports that a retirement
dinner was held at the Bedford Hotel Tuesday .evening to
honor Hazel McCreath who xecently resigned as Deputy.
,Division Commissioner for the guides of Huron County.
She has held the positiOn since 1969. Hazel had been
involved in guiding since the fall of 1958. Jean Ainslie
a guiding member of Goderich presented a gift. - - Mr.
and Mrs. Harry M. Downie, Goderich, marked their 50th
wedding anniversary last Tuesday. - - - Constable Kenneth
E. Wettlaufer, son of Mrs. Elmer Wettlaufer and the late
Elmer Wettlaufer, 205 Warren Street, graduated from
Royal Canadian Mounted Police school in Regina, June 4th.
He is stationed in Fort St. • John, B.C. - - - Mr. and Mrs.
Terence Hunter of R.R.3, Goderich, celebrated their 50th
wedding anniversary Saturday afternoon in the Camp
Menesetung Hall. They have two children, Elmer living at
R.R.3, Goderich and daughter Mrs. John(Caroly0Thompson,
of R.R.2, Seaforth. -
Retiring. Clinton Public School principal J. A. Grey,
according to the Clinton News-Record, was honored last
Saturday evening at a special dinner organized to recognize
his contribution to education in Clinton and Huron County.
His retirement which is official August 31st,• comes after
42 years service in education in Huron County, the past 17
years of which he has spent as principal of the Clinton public
School. - - - Miss Josephine Stirling of Bayfield celebrated
her 90th birthday Sunday. Many members of her family
attended the occasion and among those was her sister,
Mrs. Hugh (Charlotte) McLaren, Port Elgin. •
The Exeter Times-Advocate reportS that Exeter Council
decided against taking any action on a recommendation that
the afternoon of Saturday, June 30th be declared a public

of Transportation and Communications that traffic lights are

A special committee of Exeter council has been named to
look after preparing plans for the new works department
building on Nelson St. - — Grand Bend taxpayers are going
to pay more in 1973. Monday night council set the current
tax levy at 127.7 mills for residentila properties . The
commerical rate is 135.6 mills. The residential rate is
up 18.7 mills and cohiercial is up 19.6 mills. - - - Mr.

Board releases details of
teachers salary schedule
its secondary school teachers
calls for a Six per cent total
increase in the over-all salary
package.
The six per cent increase will
cost the Board $194,000 on an
annual basis. The secondary
school teachers' salaries amount
to $3,240,000.
Salaries in the four teaching
categories are as follows with
last year's in brackets: $7,200
'($'7,100) to $13,000 ($12,490);
$7,500 ($7,400); to $13,700
($13,000); $8,400 ($8,300) to
$15,400 ($14,800); $8,900 ($8,800)
to $16,500 ($15,900).
Principals' salary schedule
from $21,400 ($19,700) to a
maximum of $24,000", ($23,000).
with an annual• increment of
$700. •Vice-principals' received
a basic •$19,100' ($18,000) with
an increment of $600 to a maxi-
mum of $20,900 ($20,000) sa-
lary.

Directors - Grid plus $2,200;
assistant directors - grid plus
$1,100; Department heads - grid
pluS $1,950; assistant department
heads- grid plus $975; subject

used in Huron and the Huron
Board owns 39 buses.

A fuel conversion contract
for Central Huron Secondary
School In Clinton was awarded to
Fred McGregor of Brucefield at
the tender price of $11,059.04.
The McGregor tender was the
lowest of four.
The Smith-Peat Roofing Corn-
pamy was awarded the contract
for roof repairs at: Holmes-
ville Public $13,190; Robertson
Memorial in Goderich, $416;
Central Huron Secondary School,
$16,900; Hullett Central Pub-
lic School, $600; Stephen Central
Public School, $525; and F.E.
Madilr Secondary School $2,360.
