HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Brussels Post, 1973-06-20, Page 16The students working on the Huron County Historical File project are getting plenty of blapk, hands and, dirty clothes these days, Since June 11 team members have visited twenty-six municipal clerks, librarians, newspaper of- fices and presidents of historical societies to try to find out what records do or do not exist in the county. The project, under the super- vision of James Scott and co- ordination of Bill Jeffery, Exeter, is to update the history of Huron County from 1900 to 1975. It is financed by the Ministry of Education's "Experience 73" P.E.O.P.L.E, program with Huron County Council meeting additional expenses. Food specialists at the Ontario Food Council, Strawberries store well in your refrigerator, but for -2 to 3 days only, so bey only the amount that can be eaten within that period of time. Wash and hull the berries when ready to use. . Before refrigerating, remove the berries from the box, lay them on a tray or paper towel and pick out overripe ones. Store the tray of berries, uncovered, in the refrigerator. Why, you may wonder un- covered? Well, circulating air prevents moisture build-up and discourages the growth of mold on the berries. when ready to use the,berries, give them a quick cold bath; let the sand fall to the bottom of the basin, then lift the berries from the water using your fingers as strainers. Roll lightly on a paper towel to dry, then hull. The secret to successful strawberry storage is to bey the amount you can use within 2 or 3 days, spread them out in the refrigerator, wash, and hull only when ready to use.
