Mrs. J. C, Johnston was
hostess for the Bluevale
Women's Institute held at her
home on Wednesday afternoon,
June 13, Twenty-eight members
and seven visitors were present
to hear the guest speaker, Miss.
Gertrude Wilkes of Huron County
Children's Aid Society. She told
of the duties of the different C.
A.S. workers and asked for the
co-operation of all in telling them
of the needs -in the county. She
was introduced by Mrs. Wendell
Stamper and Mrs. Harvey Tin-in
thanked her and presented her
with a gift.
Mrs. Mel Craig presided for
the meeting 'which opened in the
usual manner. mrs,Roy Sander-
son, a new member, was
welcomed to the Institute.
Members were asked to attend
Achievement Day at Howick Cen-
tral School on June 30 and support
the girls • in their 4-H activities.
The Institute will cater to a
graduation banquet at Turnberry
Central School and plans were
made for this.
Mrs. Ken Chambers gave a
report of the Officer's Con-
ference which she attended in
Stratford on May 2 and 3. Mrs.
Gordon Mundell gave a humorous
reading written by a wingham
Hospital patient.
Mis Marilyn Robertson,
Huron County's "Queen of the
Furrow" was present and spoke
on why Huron County is one of
the Banner counties of Ontario
and told of her experiences at
County and International
Ploughing Matches.

for the prizes which the members
had sold tickets on. Mrs.Phyllis

from businessmen and farmers
, in Huron. County, a second Indus -
, trial Development Bank credit
officer has been assigned to this
area on a full-time basis. He is
N. G. W. Peever, who joined
IDB a year ago following a number
of years in banking and account-
ing. Mr. Peever, a former resi-
dent of ,Goderich, and.I.D. Brink-
low, who is IDB's present repre-
sentative in Huron, will make
frequent visits to Goderich,
Exeter, Clinton, Winghani, Sea-
forth and other communities to
meet with businessmen and far-
mers who are interested in IDB
financing.
Industrial DeVelOpment Bank'
was formed by Parliament in
.1944. Its office at 197 York
Street, London, makes term loans
to -manufacturing plants, farms, I
retail outlets, professional prac-
tices, etc. provided the proposal
is sound and provided reasonable
financing is not elsewhere
available.
Gamble won the $).9 grocery
voucher donated by Mr. and Mrs.
Cecil Sanderson; Mrs. D.Free-
man won the fancy apron donated
by Mrs.. Graham Campbell; Miss
Emma Johnston won the cup and
saucer donated by Mrs. Jim
Armstrong; and Miss Deborah
Armstrong Won the decorated
soap donated by Mrs, KenCham-
bere.
Mrs. J. C. Johnston, curator,
passed out "House Logs" to ibe
completed by the members and
and handed in by the September
meeting.
The July meeting is to be
held on July 4 at. 8 p.m. in the
Community Hall. A bus trip
to Black Creek Pioneer Village
on August 15 is being planned.
Lunch was served by the hos-
tess, assisted by Mrs. Jack
Wickstead, Mrs. Carl Johnston
and Mrs. Charles Mathers.

Mrs. Keith Moffatt was
hostess for the Associate Mem-
bers meeting of the W.M.S.
The president, Mrs. Glenn
Golley, opened the meeting with
prayer and a hymn. Mrs.
Moffatt presided at the piano.
Scripture and comments were
read by Mrs. Golley and Mrs.
Moffatt offered prayer. Roll
call was answered by each mem-
ber giving a suggestion for
variety in the meetings.
, Mrs. Moffatt introduced the
guest speaker, Mrs. Robert
Campbell of Wingham. She based
her topic on"Joy". Mrs.William
Robertson thanked Mrs.Campbell
for her inspirin g message and
presented her with a gift. Mrs.
Golley also thanked Mrs.Camp-
bell and Mrs. Moffatt for
sharing her home. Lunch was
served by Mrs. Moffatt, Mrs.
Golley and Mrs. Robertson.
