Lrrently Husband and wife team is a first for Brussels A resurgence of interest and increased membership in the Brussels Legion Pipe Band com- bined with a three fold increase in the price of uniforms since the band was founded in 1952 has resulted in a fund raising dance being planned at the Legion Hall in Brussels on .Saturday, If anyone is in need of a hospital bed, wheel chair, or crutches, they can get the,loan of them from the Brussels LO.O.F. Lodge. This is part of the benevolent work the Oddfellows and Rebekahs carry on in their community. , There is no charge to anyone in need of such assis- tance. Ross Duncan has been directing a, group of teenage drummers. the railings have been forcibly tampered with and wrenched loose after being repeatedly fixed. It is time those responsible for such damage stopped and considereil the purpose for which (Continued on Page 11) • Grey Council Resolutions passed at the June Meeting of Grey Council include: - That the tender of Postill Tile Drainage, R.R.# 3, Clinton, for the construction of the Bruce- Williarnsbn MuniCipar Drain- at the price of $3,619.30 be accep-- ted.- The pipe band was formed in January, 1952 with twelve mem- bers and played in parades and band tattooes all over southern Ontario, as well as a three day engagement at Sherrill, New York.Membership declined as musicians moved from Brussels and two of the band's original members died. The current in- crease in membership started in 1972 when five new members joined the band. These new members have been working very hard and when money has been raised to buy their new uniforms will be a credit to the village of Brussels whenever the band performs. A good attendance at the dance on June 23 will encourage all those who have worked hard to enlarge and invigorate the Legion Pipe Band. Tickets are available from band members in advance for $1.50. They were Mr. and Mrs. Brewer. This is the first time a husband and wife has headed the Legion and Auxiliary here. The installation ceremonies were conducted by the Installing Team of Seaforth Legion who also made presentations of Past President badges to Com. Pete Cardiff and Corn. Mabel Willis and to Com. Ted Elliott, who received his Past Zone. Com- mander's Badge. A pleasant social time was spent in dancing and lunch was served. Officers installed were: Legion Past Pres. Corn. Pete Cardiff; Pres. John Brewer; 1st Recover stolen car near Toronto A car belonging to Miss Doris McDonald , which was stolen from outside the United Church, Brussels, while Miss McDonald was attending services last Sun- day morning has been recovered by the Ontario Provincial Police. The O.P.P. notified Miss Mc- Donald last Tuesday that the car, with four occupants, 2 men and 2 women from Barrie, was found near Toronto. The car thieves stopped for gas on Sunday at noon at- Brussels Motors before preceding on their way.
