A resurgence of interest and
increased membership in the
Brussels Legion Pipe Band com-
bined with a three fold increase
in the price of uniforms since
the band was founded in 1952
has resulted in a fund raising
dance being planned at the Legion
Hall in Brussels on .Saturday,
If anyone is in need of a
hospital bed, wheel chair, or
crutches, they can get the, loan of
them from the Brussels LO.O.F.
Lodge. This is part of the
benevolent work the Oddfellows
and Rebekahs carry on in their
community. , There is no charge
to anyone in need of such assis-
tance. It is free to them for
the asking. ,

Resolutions passed at the June
Meeting of Grey Council include:
- That the tender of Postill
Tile Drainage, R.R.# 3, Clinton,
for the construction of the Bruce-
Williarnsbn MuniCipar Drain- at
the price of $3,619.30 be accep--

The pipe band was formed in
January, 1952 with twelve mem-
bers and played in parades and
band tattooes all over southern
Ontario, as well as a three day
engagement at Sherrill, New
York.Membership declined as
musicians moved from Brussels
and two of the band's original
members died. The current in-
crease in membership started in
1972 when five new members
joined the band.
These new members have
been working very hard and when
money has been raised to buy
their new uniforms will be a
credit to the village of Brussels
whenever the band performs.
A good attendance at the dance
on June 23 will encourage all
those who have worked hard to
enlarge and invigorate the Legion
Pipe Band. Tickets are available
from band members in advance
for $1.50. Ticket holders are
entitled to a draw for a man's
or ladies' wrist watch..
