The Brussels Post, 1973-05-30, Page 16TODAYt'CHILD: BY HELEN ALLEN. HE LOVES THE OUTDOORS Handsome and slim with blond hair, blue eyes and fair sking plus freckles - that's Michael, seven. Irish in descent, Michael is a quiet, shy boy who is generally placid and good-natured, Michael's health is good but when he was a toddler he was diagnosed as having hydrocephalus (an abnormal build-up of fluid inside the skull). The condition has been arrested and he requires no further treatment now or in the future. Before Michael's hydrocephalus was diagnosed, there was some pressure on the brain, which resulted in a perceptual handicap and some speech difficulty. He needs to be adopted in an area where there are facilities for speech therapy and where the school is geared to understanding a child with a perceptual handicap. He is now doing quite well in Grade One. Michael likes the outdoors and is very interested in small forms of wildlife such as bugs, worms and butterflies. He 'is learning to skate. He doesn't play hockey yet but enjoys watching games. Michael needs parents who enjoy a great deal of involve- ment with their childreh and who are able to combine love and firmness. To inquire about adopting Michael, please write to Today's Child, Box 888, Station K, Toronto M4P 2H2. For general adoption, information, contact your Children's Aid Society.
