Vacation time is here and
"getting away from it all" doesn't
have to mean a south sea island
with expenses to match. An
Ontario farm vacation can
provide just as much relaxation
and fun a lot closer to home and
at a very reasonable, cost.
This summer, some 45 farm
families across the province are
acting as vacation hosts.
A week's vacation on an Ontario
farm, meals included; can cost
as little as $60 for an adult.
Children, with or without accom-
panying adults, are also welcome.
While rates for unaccompanied
children are available from in-
dividual hosts on request, those
for children with their parents
range from $35 to $40 per child,
per week.
With the growing interest in
food production, a farm vacation
provides holidaying families with '
a unique opportunity to find an-
swers to their questions from
people who make their livelihood
from agridulture. Children of
all ages will also have their
curiosity about farth life and
farm animals satisfied by direct
involvement with the on-going
activities on a working farm.
Apart from the usual
amenities of rural living, such
as farm-fre'sh eggs, homemade
bread and fresh air; vacationers
can usually enjoy swimming,
fishing, pichicing, horse-back
riding, fruit and berry picking,
and attending local antique or
livestock auctions. Some vaca-
' tion farms include housekeeping
units, so that guests can do
their own cooking if they wiSh;
and many farms are located near
gold courses, beaches, at,d shop-
ping and recreation centers.
All hosts are members Of the
Ontario Federation of Agri-
culture. :Vacation larrti8 are
