Elect officers for
lawn bowling
There are strong hopes of
lawn bowling coming back to
Brussels. Several interested
people met in the Library some
time ago and discussed the pos-
sibilities of forming a club.
A slate of officers was se-
lected to start activities as fol
lows; President, Jack Yuill;
Vice-President, Frank Carter;
Secretary, Isabel Adams; Trea-
surer, Wm. Beacom. Directors
are; Hugh Pearson, Jack Bryans,
Norman Hoover, Jack Bowman,
Russel Hall, Doug Hemingway,
Ray Adams and J.W. Smith.
Committees have been se-
lected with a finance committee
of: Wm. Beacom, Hugh Pearson
and Jack Bryans. PrOperty:
Frank Carter, Norman Hoover
and Jack Bowman. Membership,
Russ Hall, Doug Hemingway, Ray
Adams and J.W. Smith.
An agreement is being nego-
tiated with the Brussels Agricul-
tural Society for land and use
of the Palace.
The officers now are seeking
to determine whether there are
enough people people willing to
back the project with dollars.
The committee after much dis-
cussion have proposed a plan
whereby anyone who wishes to
support the undertaking will pay
an"Initiation Fee" of $25 or $40
per couple. A reasonable
response to the plan would give
the club enough funds to proceed
with grading and levelling.
The officers point out that
time is an important factor and
the earlier the work is under-
way the sooner the greens can
be used.
