Mrs.L.Stonehouse
The Women's Institute met
Tuesday evening May 15 in the
Women's Institute Hall with a
good attendance of members and
guests from Blyth, Auburn,
Goderich and Wingham. Presi-
dent Mrs. Norman Coultes pre-
sided and welcomed those pres-
ent. The theme was "It takes
every spoke to make the wheels
run smoothly". • The president
followed with a recipe how to
plant the garden with 5 rows of .
peas - Presence, promptness,
Preparation, perseverence and
Purity. 3 rows squash - squash
gossip, criticism and indiffer-
ence. 4 row lettuce - let us
be faithful to duty, loyal and true
to our obligation and let us have
one another. No garden is com-
plete without turnips - turn up
for meetings with a smile, with
new ideas and new members,
determination to make all count
for good.
The secretary, Mrs. Ross
Higgins read minutes. It was
agreed to take a bus trip to
"Black Creek Pioneer Village"
on June 13th. Roll call was
the members of visiting groups
standing as each were called,
also local friends and members.
The branch will cater to the
annual graduation banqUet of the
East wawanosh public School on
June 27.
The Cemetery service will be
held on Sunday, July 1st, the
Presbyterian Church and
cemetery board to make arrange-
ments. The "Shindigs" Group,
favoured with two numbers fol-
lowed by a panel discussion on
the Mary Stewart Collect. Those
taking part were Mrs. HersonIr-
win, Mrs. Lawrence Taylor,Mrs.
Hazel Purdon, Mrs. Leslie Bolt
and Mrs. Hazel Procter.
A sing-song followed led by
Mrs. William Coultes and Mrs.
Norman Coultes at the piano.
Mrs. Hester Bradburn of
Wingham favoured with two mouth
organ selections accompanied on
the .piano by' Mrs. Charles
Sewers. A panel discussing var-
ious important resolutions were
by Mrs. Don Hallahan, Mrs.Ivan
Wightman and Mrs. Walter Scott.
Mrs. Bradburn then favoured with
two more mouth organ selections.
The W.I. Cancer canvass amount-
ed to $511.40.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Leslie Bolt, Mrs. Lawrence Tay-
lor, Mrs. Ross Taylor, Mrs.
Leonard James, Mrs. Ivan Wight-
man and Mrs. Dan Hallahan.
JUNIORS MEET
The Belgrave Junior Auxil-
iary was held at the Orange Hall
• on Saturday morning with Sheila
Anderson leading ,in the games.
AUdrey Scott, the president, led
in the opening exercises. Cathy
Shiells had charge of the roll
call. Minutes were read by
Alison Roberts and treasurer's
report by Judy Carmichael.

Cathy Shiell helped with the
worship service. Sheila Ander-
son and Lisa Thompson collecte'd
the offering and prayer was re-
cited by Cathy Shiell. Workshop
for the day proceeded with
Mrs. Kenneth Mason talking on
preserving our health and an-
answered any questions the
members asked. Audrey Scott
thanked Mrs. Mason and pre-
sented her with a gift.
The sing-song was led by
Anne Procter. "Now we close
our meeting" was sung.
WIN AT EUCHRE
Ten tables of euchre were
played Wednesday evening in the
Belgraye Community Rooms.
Winners for the evening were -

Novelty Lady - Mrs. Cora Mc-
Gill; Low Lady - Mrs. Percy
Adams; High Man - Frank Mc-
Cormick; Novelty Man - Mark

GRADE FOUR ASSEMBLY

The grade four assembly was
held on May 9th when the rest
of the school and some parents
attended. This assembly was
held in the East wawanosh pub-
lic School in the auditorium.
It was on a theme of good
health. We started our assembly
with "0 Canada". Following
this we sang a hymn called "All
the Happy Children".
Karen Jaretzke read the Bible
story. After this we presented a
play called "The Whole Tooth".
The star of the show was Ken-
neth Careless (Robbie Nichol-
son). The judge. Donnie
Schwartzentruber, charges Ken-
neth Careless with not keeping his
teeth clean. The tooth, Karen
Jaretzke, was pulled by Doctor
Savem (Glen Taylor) because he
never brushed her.
After the play we had two
poems called "Highway toHeath-
land" and "To Have Bright
Eyes". we then sang a song
which we made up called "Help-
,ing Others". Bruce Higgins and
Cheryl Walker played their gui-
tars for this song. We closed our
assembly with "God Save the
Queen". Everyone loved it.
LOCALS
Mr. and Mrs. Alan Scott,
Brian, David and Kevin of Barrie
spent the holiday week end with
his mother, Mrs. Walter Scott and
visited with his father Walter
Scott on Sunday who is a patient
in Victoria Hospital, London.
Miss Sandee Robinson spent
the week end with her grandpar-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Rob-,
inson while her parents attended
a Kinsmen Convention in Hamil-
ton on the week end.
Miss Cathy Webb of Toronto
spent the week end with Mr.
and Mrs. Calvin Robinson., 4
Mr. and Mrs. Maitland Edgar
and family of Petrolia, visited
on the holiday with relatives in
the district.
Duane Capener of London was
a holiday visitor with his uncle
and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Mason.
Calvin-Brick. Church Anni-
versary will be held Sunifiay,
May 27 . The guest speaker is
Rev. Clarence McClenaghan of
Dungannon formerly of White
Church. Music by Calvin-Brick
Choir.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Robert-
son visited on. Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. William Peacock of
Bluevale.
Mr. and Mrs. Murray Coultes
of Etobicoke left by plane on
Friday evening from Malton air -
port • for a three week visit in
England and Scotland.
Little -Patricia Cartwright of
London, who spent a few days
last week with her grandmother,
Mrs. Harry Rinn, returned home
with her parents Mr. and Mrs.
Keith. Cartwright who spent the
weekend at the same home.
Mr. and Mrs. Keith Dunbar
of Stratford and Mrs: Joseph
Dunbar visited on Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Dunbar
and family of Chatsworth.
Monday visitors at the home
of Mrs. Joseph Dunbar were Mr.
and Mrs. Gary Hall, Chris and
Kim of New Hamburg, Kevin
Dunbar and Mis.s Wendy Emm of
Stratford.
Mr. Cecil Bowman of Mit-
chell was a recent visitor with
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Rinn and
John.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Rinn were
Sunday visitors with Mrs.
William Gordon of Kinloss, who
is a patient 1.. Kincardine Hos-
pital.
Mr., and Mrs. Robert Hibberd
visited with Mr. and Mrs. War-
ren Zurbrigg, R.R.2, Clifford
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Robin-
son of St. Catharines visited on
the holiday week, end with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mason
Robinson.
peter Mason, who is attend-
ing Agricultural School at Huron
Park, spent the week end with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ken-
neth Mason.
Mr. and Mrs. James Brydges.
of Ridgetown visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Jack VanCamp on Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Styles
of Mimico spent the holiday week
end with their aunt, Mrs. Cora
McGill.
Mr. Walter Scott who has
been a patient in Victoria Hos-
pital, London, was able to return
to his home on Monday.
