The Brussels Post, 1973-05-09, Page 10The Farm. Show
attracts full house
An enthusiastic crowd of
people attended The Farm Show
presented in the Crystal
palace on. Sunday afternoon.
The production by the pro-
fessional theatre group Theatre
Passe Muraille, under the
director-manager, Paul Thomp=
son, was sponsored in Brussels
by The Village. Workshop.
The Farm Show took a Ml-
arious look at farm life in Huron
County. The various skits which
composed the show, happy, sad
and touching, were portrayed with
credibility gained from their con-
tacts with farm life while in
the Holmesville area last sum-
Met',
The actorS were skillful In
mimicry. They could imitate
anything from farm machinery
to animals and portray an array
of different characters by expert
change in voice, stance and tim-
ing.
The show was an engaging
experience in professional
theatre, with excellent produc-
tion and superb acting in a type
of show seldom seen.
The group will perform on
May 13th in Stratford, later at
the National Art Centre In Ottawa
and on to an Eastern United
States tour this fall.

Miss Lucas read the story of
India's Ambassador of Music -
Ravi Shankar. He was the yoUng-
est of six children in a. Hindu
,family, • At an early age he
learned many Bangali songs and
became quite popular at special
school programs. As the years
went by he learned to play many
musical instruments, especially
the.sitar. He furthered his musi-
cal education in, radio films and
Indian theatre. He travelled to
Russia, Europe and UnitedStates
presenting Indian music. Finally
he opened a school In California
where he now lives. Ravi
Shankar has helped more than
anyone else to give to the world

when I was a boy I eagerly'
looked forward to a Saturday
'afternoon at the local theatre and
the latest thrilling episode of the
current serial. I remember in
these serials all hereos were tall
and silent with curly hair and
broad shoulders. All heroines
were blonde,' shy creatures, with
snapping eyelashes and fully de-
pendent on the hero. A must was
an old professor who had invented
some kind of device or formula,
that if ever in the hands of the
villan would probably mean the
end of the world. The . villain
