Brussels school news
For the past two months floor

topic discussed by the students.

April 25th, the Brussels girls
travelled to Grey Central to do
battle with the Ethel girls.. Grey
Central came out on top, but
the Brussels girls showed. lot
of promise and one mild tell

to thank Mrs. Raymond, Mrs.
White, Mrs. Garniss, Mrs. Mc
Cutcheon and Mr: Scott for pro-
viding transportation.
The boys got their chance 'at
noon on Friday, also, going to
Grey Central and returned vic-
torious. The boys also would
like to extend their'appreciation
to Jim Cardiff and Mr. Scott
for transportation to and from
the game.
On Saturday of that same
week, Ralph Pearson pulled his
bus aroung to the school early
in the morning to take the girls
and' boys to the floor hockey
tournament at F.E. Madill,Secon-
dary School. Mr. Scott met the
teams at wingham and games
started prOmptly at nine. The
boys made a good showing, fini-
shing in second place. The girls
diaplayed their power by going
undefeated.
They vanquished Lucknow,
HoWick and Grey.
Sacred Heart also tumbled.
That victorious day.

coachs for softball
The Brussels Minor Sports
Association has entered minor
softball teams in the W.O.A.A,
on a tentative basis in the hopes
that coaching personnel will be
found for the various categories.
To date only Blaine McCutcheon
and Bob Thomas have volunteered
their services and they will be in
charge of the Squirts. That
means coaches are needed in
the Pee Wee, Bantam and Junior
Dart players

banquet
A Banquet, presentation of
trophies and election of officers
for next year were held Sat.
night, April 28, at the Brussels
Legion. The evening concluded
the 1972-73 Mixed darts program.
Top team for the year also
A-team in the play-offs was that
of Willis Knight which included;
Kay McWhirter, Bob Higgins,
Pearl Baker, Helen Adams and
John Skipjack.
The B winner was Ken White's
team and included Mable
Karl Kokesh, Olga Speiran,
Gloria Kingsbury and Jim Spivey.
Gene Dellow had the most
points for both starts and finishes
for ladies. Mick Conaboy had
the most points for both starts
and finishes for the men.
High score with 'three darts
for the ladies went to'Jane White.
High score with three darts for
the men was won by Ross Alcock..
Next year's officers are ;
President, Bob Hayward; Sec-
retary, Ray Adams and Trea-
surer, Cora Alcock.

at church
Melville W.M.S. met in the
church .parlor on • Friday with
Mrs. Mair the President, pre-
siding. The meeting opened
with a poem “Our Guide". Mrs.
King was at the piano.
The Maitland Presbyterial of
the W.M.S. is to be held in
Molesworth on May 28. Mrs.
Joe Martin is to conduct the
"In Memoriam" during the
afternoon session. 15 call s on
sick and shut-ins were reported.
Plans were made for the June
meeting When' Mrs. Lorne Spark^
of South Kinloss will be the gues:
speaker. The roll call was an-
swered with a verse dontaining
the word "bread". The scrip-
ture from Matt. 25 verses 31 -
46 was read by Mrs: Joe Martin.

Plans are also underway to-
wards the Minor Hockey Banquet
which will be held around the
middle of June. The format
for this year will be similar to
last year, but some interesting
additions are being implemented.
More information will be an-
nounced as planning progresses.
