The Zone C 1 Ladies' Aux-
iliary of the Royal Canadian
Legion will hold a Rally in the
Brussels Legion. Hall on Wednes-
day, May 16th.
At seven-thirty that evening
the ladies will parade from the
Legion Hall headed by the Royal
Canadian Legion Pipe Band with
Comrade Ted Elliott, Legion
Zone Cl Commaithr as Parade
Marshall. They will proceed
along the main street returning
to the Cenotaph for a service
and the laying of a wreath.
With skirl of pipes, beat of
drums, swing of kilts and flying
colors, this will be a parade of
interest to watch.

than 250 Rebekahs• . attended the 25th anniversary cele,
bration of Monkton Star Rebekah Lodge No. 345 in the
Atwood Community Centre Friday evening. There were
visitors from Listowel, Stratford, Atwood, St. Marys,.
Brussels, Exeter, Clinton, Seaforth, Hensall, Goderich,
PalmerSton, Harriston and Kitchener with officers from
the ,Brussels Lodge conducting the opening ceremonies.
District DeputY President of Stratford District No. 29,
Mrs. Janet Noble, St. Marys made her official visit and
spoke briefly on ideas about being good Rebekah8.
• The LUcknow Sentinel reports that the 100th anniversary
services, of the Lucknow Presbyterian Church were held
on Sunday morning with a large attendance. Dr. Finlay
G . Stewart of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Kit-
chener, guest speaker at both services and Rev. Glenn
Noble, Minister of Lucknow Presbyterian Church. - - -
Ripley area will have a child's playground under "Oppor-
tunities for Youth" program with eight students involved.
This group of teenagers plan to set up and maintain a
child's playground for ten weeks during the coming summer
months. - - -, 28 completed first aid course sponsored by
Ashfield Recreation Committee.
Thirty 'members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Hensall,
Branch 468, according to the Zurich Citizens News, were
honoured last Saturday night at a special banquet in the
Legion Hall, and were presented with their pins in re-
cognition • of their 25 years of service. Zone Commander
"Ted" Elliott, of Blyth, made the presentations. Guest
speaker for the occasion was Huron M.P.P. Jack Riddell.
- - - One member of the Hereford herd of Valentine Becker
and sons of Dashwood has done its share over the past four
years in upping beef production. The cow gave birth to
triplets a week. ago And in addition to the triplets the cow .
has given birth to four sets of twins since November, 1969.
According to the Goderich Signal-Star, a public hearing'
is to 'be called in the near future by the Ontario Ministry
of the Environment into the matter of sewage treatment
facilities installed by Benmiller Estates at Benmiller..
Peter Ivey, one of the principal owners Of Benmiller

big rainbow was landed near the railway trestle over the

The Blyth Standard reports that nearly 170 persons
gathered in the Blyth Memorial Hall recently, to honour
William , Thuell following his retirement from over 50
years of service to Blyth. He was Blyth public Utilities,
Commission foreman. He is still ac• lye in his own elec-
trical contracting firm. Two area rlembers of Parlia-
ment were present. Robert McKinley; M.P. extended con-
gratulations to Mr. Thuell while Murray Gaunt, M.P.P.
for Huron-Bruce presented Mr. Thuell with a scroll from
the ProVince of Ontario signed by William Davis, premier
. of Ontario. - - Mr. Don Scrimgeour, fortner butcher at
I.G.A. Seaforth, was reported moving to Lucknow where
he had purchased the butcher shop there but when the deal
fell through, he bought the Blyth Meat Market which. had
cloSed recently due to illness of the proprietor, Ernest
,Button. He opened on Saturday for business in his home
town. - - Mr. Norm Shaw, Kitchener was hired last week
'by Blyth council as clerk-treasurer, replaCing retiring
Irvine Wallace as clerk-treasurer and secretary-treasurer
of the Blyth P.U.C. - - - Nearly 200 persons registered
Saturday for the convention of District 8 of the Ontario
Horticultural Speieties held in Blyth at Memorial Hall.
"According to the Exeter Tines-Advocate Stephen
Council Tuesday night gave approval to a request from
the Exeter and area fire board to purchase a new fire
engine. The township will pay 11 per cent of the cost of
.a new machine expected to cost in the neighborhood of ,
