Upon closer observation it was found 'to be a Snowy Egret or Snowy Heron, native of the Southern TJ.S.A., but occasionally sighted in Southern and Eastern Canada. The Snowy Egret is pure white with plumes down the back and breast, has a black beak and black legs with yellow feet. The bird is about two feet long. These birds were hunted almost to extinction for their plumes some years ago until recognized by the National Audubon Society. They have now become fairly numer- ous. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Wightman, Mr. and Mrs. Scott were able to get within. close range of the Egret and with the aid of field glasses had an excellent view of the bird.
