A feature of the program, was a hat parade when those' taking part included: (Back Row), Miss L. Lucas, Mrs. Marie McTaggart, Mrs. Mildred Perrie, Mrs. Verna Tunney, •Mrs. Jane Devries, Mrs. na McArter, Mrs. Viola Machan, (Front Row) Mrs. Eleanor Hemingway, Mrs. Margaret Parish. , • ii Frank Carter heads senior citizen group About 50 senior citizens of Brussels and vicinity met in the Legion Hall April 18th to or- ganize a club. Mrs. Leona Arrntrong ex- tended a welcome andoffieiated with Mrs. Walter. Kerr at the piano, for a fashion show - a hat preview. Ten members of the W.I. participated in it dressed from head to toe in articles mostly found in the kitchen - "Tide" boxes, larapshades, pie plates, "chamber", collander, towels, rolling pin etc. Each model was greeted with loud applause.. Cameron Inglis of Atwood, a member of their senior citizens' club provided information in regard to organization, program, and fees. Mr. Inglis installed the fol- lowing officers after hearing the report of the nominating com- mittee read by Alf. Knight: President, Frank Carter; 1st Vice-President, Harry Bolger; 2nd Vice-President, Clem Stef- fler; Secretary, Ed. Martin; Treasurer, Mrs. Hazel Mathe- son; Pianist, Mrs. Walter Kerr; Lunch committee, Mrs. Alex Steiss, Mrs. Jim McTaggart, Mrs. Elsie Shaw; Program com- mittee, u Mrs. Harold Thomas, Mrs. Torrance Dundas and Mrs. Carl Hemingway. The president, Mr. Carter took charge of the meeting and asked for the co-operation and support of all the members. After discussion it was decided that the membership fee for the year would be $1 with a 25c collection at each meeting. Spring and, summer meetings will be in the . evening and •fall and winter in the afternoon. Mrs. Marie McCutcheon and Mrs. Leona Armstong dressed as a , bride and groom with Mrs. W. • Kerr at the piano, sang two duets "The Easter parade" and'isThe Bride and Groom". The W.I. Stompers playing various "musical" instruments from wash boards to gramaphone horns delighted the audience with. their melodies. Mrs. Kerr ac- companied them on the piano. Mr. Carter thanked the Insti- tute for their help in getting the senior citizens organized. Mrs. Armstrong replied and wished them success in their venture. Door prize tickets drawn by Mrs. Cameron Inglis were won by Mrs. Jim McTagart and Mrs. Florence Russell.
