The budget indicates that
education costs in Huron will
increase .by $398,262 during the
calendar year 1973. This will
result in an average inci-ease of
2.1 mills for the county *rate-
payers.
The budget calls for expendi-
tures of $12,019,586 for operating
the Board's eleme'ntary schools,
secondary schools and schools
for the trainable retarded, com-
pared to $11,621-,324 for 1972,
an increase of 3.4 per Cent.
In the press release issued
On April 25 by Director of
Education, and board secretary,
D. J. Cochrane, it was reported
that revenues are expected to
increase accordingly with •
$8,430,800 (70.1 per cent) com-
ing from the Provincial Govern-
ment in the tom of grants
and subsidies, $2,851,956 (23.7
per cent) from the municipalities
of Huron County and the balance
of $736,830 (6.2 per cent) from
such other sources as tuition
fees froth other Boards, rentals
night school tuitions, etc.
Of the total budgeted gross
expenses Of $12,019,586, Mr.
Cochrane reported $5,927,458
are allocated to the elementary
school system and $6,092,128 to
the secondary schools and
schools for the trainable
retarded.

LAURIE
Candelabra and spring floral
arrangements of daffodils,
gladioli, chrysanthemums and
blue-tipped daisies provided the
setting when Linda Mary Lichty
of Millbank and Donald Murray
Laurie, Brussels, were united
in marriage.
Rev. Robert Cochrane and
Rev. Murray Aspden officiated
at the '7;30 ceremony in Burns
Presbyterian Church, Milverton
on April 7, 1973. Miss Isobel
Hamilton provided the wedding
music and accompanied' the
soloist, Miss Karen Hartung,
when she sang "The wedding
Prayer" and r g Theme from Love
Story".
Linda is a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Sam W. Lichty, Mill-
bank and Donald's parents are
Mr. and Mrs. James Laurie of
Milverton.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, chose a formal
length candlelight organza gown,
featuring a natural waistline and
flowing Watteau Chapel train.
Val lace and silk ribbon inter-
twined to form a bodice bib, and
edged the collar and short puffed
organza sleeves. Her French
lace capulet held a fingertip silk
illusion veil. She carried a. bridal
bouquet of blue-tipped white car-
nations and pink sweetheart
roses.
The groom's sister, Mrs.
Prank Stretton of Kincardine,
acted as matron of honour.
Bridesmaids were Miss Shirley
Bast of R.R.04, Listowel and
the bride's sisters, Miss Brenda
Lichty and Mrs.. Ronald Bigam,
both of Millbank. Miss Debbie
Bigam, Millbank,, was flowergirl
for her aunt.
The bride's attendants wore
sea blue full-length dotted Swiss
organza halter-styled gownS.
The pintucked bodice arid three-
cornered St ole were accented
with organza ruffles. White plat-
form shoes and spring bouquets
of daffodils and white hyacinths

accented with white streamers
completed the girls' outfits.
The flowergirl was dressed
in a long white gown, com-
plementing the style of the
bride's dress. A sea blue Swiss
dotted sash, accented the waist-
line. She carried a nosegay of
white carnations and pink sweet-
heart roses, set on a blue ribbon.
Mr. Frank Stretton of
Kincardine was best man and
guests were ushered by Robert
Laurie of Milverton, Joseph
Laurie, Exeter, brothers of the
groom and Ronald Bigam of Mill-
bank.
A three-tiered wedding cake
trimmed in blue centred the
bride's table at Club 86, R.EL.
3,Listowel,where the reception
took place. The bride's mother
received guests wearing a blue
paisley formal gown with Wrist
length sleeves and empire waist-
line. White accessories and a
pink carnation corsage completed
her outfit. She was assisted by
the mother of the groom, who
wore a pink full length gown
featuring long sleeves, standup
collar and natural waistline. She
completed her ensemble with
black accessories and a corsage
of white hyacinths and sweetheart
roses.
For a wedding trip to East-
ern. Ontario, the bride donned a
navy and white pant outfit and
matching shoes and purse. Her
corsage was made up of pink
carnations and white shasta dais-
ies. Mr. and Mrs. Laurie are
residing in Brussels.
