UCW holds meeting The regular meeting of the Afternoon Unit of Brussels United Church was held at the home of Mrs. V. Hupfer with 22iadies in attendance. Mrs. W. Miller convened the devotions as she read an Easter verse to intro- duce the Easter theme. The members joined in singing "The Strife is O'er, the Battle Won". Mrs. C. Hemingway read the Scripture from the 24th chap- ter of Luke. Mrs. J. Smith led in prayer. Messages of Easter were contributed, by Mrs. J.Turn- hull, Mr.;. parker and Miss M. Skelton. "Thoughts on the Resurrec- tion" was the subject of Mrs. W. Miller's discourse. She (;;)11- eluded by reading an article from the observer, "Resurrection - God's Yes". Mrs. H. Thomas conducted the business. The Spring Thank- offering will be in the form of a church service on April 15. The May Meeting of the unit will be at the home of Mrs. W.Turnbull. Miss Lucas led :the discuSsion on India with some of the members offering additional' in- formation. An Easter hymn, "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross" was sung. Mrs. Thomas pronounced the benediction. A vote of thanks to the lunch committee was ex- tended by Mrs. W. Miller. Science projects were arranged in the halls.' For the sports enthusiasts, relays and obstacle course and target toss games Were played in the auditorium. Chapel. service accompanied at the organ by Doug Crich. Reverend McWhinnie, Chap- lain of the Home was in charge of the service. A new resident was welcomed and those having birth- days during the week were honoured at Monday's get together. Mary Taylor, Marie Flynn and Norman Speir Provided the music for the occasion. Mrs. Prouty of Exeter has returned from her winter holiday and conducted last week's Bible Study. Mr. Munnings of Clinton has been. in charge of the service during her absence. The Heywood Brothers of Exeter provided an hour of musical entertainment on Family Night. Doug and Danny sang several popular and old tyme favourites and provide their own accompaniment with accordian and electric guitar. Mrs. Waghorn, who was a former neighbor of the boys, expressed the appreciation of the residents for the enjoyable hour. mr. and Mrs. Louis Ebel and family of Ingersoll were week end visitors with Mr, and mrs, Jack McCutcheon. Mrs, George Thornton is a patient in Wingham and District Hospital. Mrs. Edgar Hollinger of Hamilton and Mrs. W. J. Perrie of Brussels attended the funeral of their cousin, Mrs. Bernice Moore; in Exeter on-Friday after- noon. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Higgins, Ken and Debra were visitors with Mr. and. Mrs. Gerald Ward, Jeff and Julie of St. Marys on the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hamilton of Guelph spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs, Harry Goll. Mrs. Alex McCracken and Lorne of Bluevale spent Tuesday at the same home. NORTH HURON 4-II SWINE CLUB The. NOrth Huron 4-fl Swine Club met in the Clinton Town Hall Tuesday, April 3rd, when John Mitchell, the president, opened the meeting. Members discussed hog feeds anlifeeding with a display of samples. A film, "The New Pork", was in- formative and told about the qualities of pork. Classified Ads pay dividends.
