The trophy has a place of honour in Mathers store, Bluevale-Se- veral members of the team are from Bluevale and surrounding area. Jackets are being ordered for the ChampionS. BLUEVALE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Reverend Ostrom of Winghani conducted services in Bluevale Presbyteria n Church on Sunday. THE BLUEVALE U.C.W. ' A highlight of the meeting of the Bluevale U.C.W. Wednes- day, April 4th was the presen- tation of a Life Membership certificate to Miss Emma John- ston who has been a valued mem- ber for many years. The pre- sentation was made by president Mrs. J. Nicholson and Mrs. De- Koiy er. After a few words from Miss Johnston, all joined in sing- ing ((may the Good Lord Bless and Keep You!" After the meeting was opened with hymn "Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross"; the devotions were conducted by Group 2 led by Mrs. M. Craig. Mars. G.Sellers read the Easter story from Luke. For meditation Mrs. Craig pre- sented stories "God's Man" and ."Communion on the Moon". Mrs. R. Fraser gave a reading and Mrs. wickstead closed the de- votional period' with prayer. Mrs. DeKoiyer sang "Until Then" and after reports of the. Secretary, Mrs. J. Casemore, and Treasurer, Mrs. B. Has- tings, the roll call was answered with an Easter verse, and a donation of "Sewing Needs" to be sent to Miss Joyce Hetherington. Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey are cousins of Mrs. Turnbull and Mrs. Campbell and this is the first time they met. Mr. and Mrs. Niel McGavin of Walton spent last week in Spain. Their son Jeffrey spent the week' end with his grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnston. • Mrs. Mabel Harris of Lam- beth spent a few days, with Mr. and Mrs. Sperling Johnston and other Bluevale relatives. Miss Cathy Woods and John R. iVlacTavish of Kitchener spent the week end with Mrs. R. H. McKinnon. In scanning the EXeter Times-Advocate, it reports that• Mayor Jack. Delbridge and centennial committee chairman, Reeve Derry Boyle hoisted the colorful banner Wednesday at noon, but because of “flack" received by the Mayor, he took it down Saturday. However, the flag will fly again. A' pole has been ordered and it will be mounted on the town hall. The complaints, at the time was because the flag was flying at the cenotaph beside the Canadian flag. - - - Construction is now underway on the new Kirkt'on woodham community centre with completion set for May 31. — - A plaque was dedicated at Tweedsmuir public school in London, Friday in honour of the late Clifford Heywood. He was formerly 'of Exeter and taught Industrial Arts at the school up to the time of his death. - - - The Exeter Kinettes celebrated their 21st birthday recently when 19 ladies attended the affair at Green Forest Lodge, Grand Bend. - - An Exeter Soccer Club has been organized and will be known as the Exeter Centennial Club. The Mitchell Advocate relates that the Board of Directors of the Mitchell Co-Operative announced a patronage dividend of '7 1/2 per cent at their annual meeting. Business during 1972 reached, an all-time high for the Mitchell Co-Op. - - - Mrs. W. B. Moore, Cromarty, quietly celebrated her ninety- first birthday on Tuesday, April 3rd. — -' Mitchell Lions Club at their meeting donated $100 to the St. John Ambulance in support of their work. - - -Kenneth McKellar, Cromarty, joined his wife at Hillside Rest Home, Seebach's' Hill, recently, for a very special occasion, when the couple marked their 54th wedding anniversary. Mrs. McKellar is the former Frances Scott 'and will be 87 years of agp in June. - - -A former resident of Mitchell, Reuben Curtis, marked his'95th birthday on Friday. • , ,The • family. of Mr. Francis Claike, according to the Zurich Citizens News, • attended a birthday party in his honour at the Blue Water Res,t Home. Mr. Clarke marked his 98th birthday. — - Mary McFadden, a grade 12 student • at Preston High School, has been accepted by Ice Capades (West•DiviSion) and leaves for training in Duluth, Minnesota :an early summer. She was the. Novice Ladies Champion in The Western Ontario Sectional competition in 1970. Mary is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank McFadden of Bayfield. The Teeswater News reports that Betty Jane Hughes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Hughes Of Teesivater, has commenced training .as a :stewardess with Wardair. The training with Wardair is in Toronto and will last for one month, - - - The Belmore Skateathon with proceeds for the Artificial Ice Fund was successful as some '$2,000 was 'raised. - - Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Lane of the 14th concession of Kinloss Township marked their 50th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, April 4th. Rev. Andrew Lane of Goderich and Malcolm Lane are the last surviving members of a family of seven boys and two girls. Mrs. Viola Nelson of Clinton, according to the Clinton News Record, received a long service appreciation award from the Clinton Citizen's Horticultural. Society when she was presented with the award for giving 30 years service to the society. Mrs. Florence Pullen, past president of the society made the presentation. - - Huron County has an interim Sports Council as a result of a meeting held in Clinton Wednesday night. More than 30 persons from across the county attended. There are presently four sports councils in Ontario, including Lambton, Waterloo, Brant and now Huron. - - - Ron McIntosh president of Blue Water Cable T.V. Ltd. announced this week that there are about 150 homes hooked up at the present time in the Clinton area. It is anticipated that the town and Vanastra will be entirely hooked up by the end of April. The Goderich Signal-Star reports that Mrs. Maryn Pardy, editor of Home and Country Magazine, was guest speaker to area women's Institutes at Auburn. - - - The 1973 season of Marine activity from Goderich Harbor got off to a n early start due to a mild winter and an earlier than usual spring. Saturday will see the first club activity at a meeting at the Maitland Golf and Country Club. - - - A ladies' team from Alberta and a men's team from Manitoba have become champions at the Canadian Order of Foresters' Dominion Curling Finals held in Goderich last Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Lucknow Sentinel relates that Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nixon of Lucknow quietly observed their 60th wedding anniversary. - - Mrs. Jennie Ingles of Whitechurch marked her 92nd birthday on Saturday. The Blyth Standard reports that after 10 years of faithful service to the Village of Blyth, Clerk-Treasurer Irvine Wallace tendered his resignation on Monday night to Blyth Council. The resignation takes effect on April 30th. Both Gordon and Margaret thanked everyone and invited them, to visit them at their new home in Wingham. BLUEVALE III 4-H Club Bluevale II "4-H" Club met in the basement of the United Church. n Nine members ans- wered the roll call "Name one knitted garment in your present wardrobe and tell from what ' kind of knit it was made." The Club name, "Pretty Polyesters" was chosen. Members discussed knit samples and using the pat- tern. Mary Edith Garniss, the leader, demonstrated the proper methods of adjusting and altering patterns. Cutting and marking garments were demonstrated by the assistant leader, Rosemary Schmidt. Euchre Mr. and Mrs. Burns Moffatt and Mrs. Ross Mann were in charge of the euchre party held in the Bluevale Community Hall Thursday 'evening. There were 8 tables playing. High Ladies' prize was won by Mrs. Stella Pocaluyko; Low Lady - Mrs. George Brewer; High Man - Lloyd Taylor; Low Man - Glenn Pullman; Lucky Draw - Mrs. Les Greenaway.
